Currently have 5 different flavors of Sutliff. Can't decide if I enjoy the Rum and Maple or the cherry Cavendish more.

Any other brands I should give a try?

Next time you get to Colorado, go to a local weed shop and get some blue dream. Truly a pipes best friend as well as yours.

Some Sutliff aromatics are decent and some like Chocolate Mousse are delish but if I were you I'd move on to virginias and maybe some english tobaccos.

These are some good all day smokes to try:

MacBaren Dark Twist or Virginia No. 1
Samuel Gawith 1792 or Full Virginia Flake
Dunhill 965 or Standard Mixture

and branch out from here.

A lot cheaper than smoking cigars. Even with the most expensive of tobaccos an order of magnitude cheaper.

If I'm going to be smoking all day, a pipe is what I'm going to be smoking. Still smoke three or four cigars a week but a pipe every day.

Appreciate the response.

I switched to pipe from cigarettes.

Enjoy it much more and I'm breathing much easier.

When I was in Baton Rouge back in November, that place was closed for good. An older couple owned the place and I think the husband had died. The wife tried to keep it going but I guess it tanked.

Their house blends were solid. With Bayou out of business I had to go to Churchill's and get a tin and some cigars. Now they have a solid humidor but not a great selection of pipe tobacco.

If you live in BR, I saw you while on lunch driving in a car that has a bumper stick that says I am Ben Franklin.

First time I’ve seen a pipe smoker while I was on the road. Weird synchrony if it wasn’t you

Just before Christmas.

And she moved to Mississippi to be closer to family.

Literally closed the weekend before I bought my first pipe.

I've been ordering from bnb tobacco online. Not a bad selection.

Only problem with that is no custom blends.

My dad used to smoke pipes and gave me suggestions. Bayou was the first store he suggested.

He was pretty upset when I told him they closed.

Country Squire in Jackson, MS has some awesome house blends.

I like English blends (Angry Cornishman is my favorite of theirs), but that’s a “harsher” flavor than most new smokers like. Another favorite of mine is Dunhill’s Nightcap which will knock you on your arse.

Their “Cherokee” blend is a good aromatic with the classic “pipe smell.”

I suggest calling the Country Squire and tell them what you like and they can make good recommendations.

Had an old uncle tell me long ago that to never hire a man that smoked a pipe as he will spend more time cleaning it than working!!!

Call John Brandt at Wilke Tobacconists. Let him know what you like, and you will be steered to great tobaccos. I would recommend Rumcake and 515 (Basil Rathbone's personal blend).

Also, check out Country Squire blends (especially Old Toby), those of Boswell Pipes, Ken Byron Ventures (out there but awesome), and Watch City to name a few blenders that I enjoy.
