I could always touch my toes and place my flat hand on the ground. But recently after some medical issues, (cancer, rare post surgery infection, neck surgery ) nearly killed me I have noticed that now I have no and I mean no damn flexibility, it’s a pain to bend down and grab shite. I have no clue how this happened so suddenly, I am 60 but still this just came from nowhere.

Any ideas on what I could do to get back at least some flexibility would be appreciated. I thought walking a few miles a day would help but it really hasn’t. I hear yoga helps but I have never done hippie shite like that

Stretching, do what you can and build on it gradually.

Morning and evening 30 minute stretching routines. Hold each one for 20-30 seconds.

This.

Get resistance bands, don’t buy cheap ones.

I’m to the point where I look forward to it.

I've noticed the opposite. I've been getting more flexible.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing old man strength.

It's probably your hamstrings. I sit in an office chair for the last weeks that makes me limp with I get up for about 15 paces.

Sitting makes your hamstrings and hip flexors and stuff tighter. I would suggest a chiropractor (the sports therapist type that has a clientele of Crossfit women in it, not the traditional kind.) I've been amazed when I point to something, and then they find it. Damn. They've worked on me to the point where I was a puddle of sweat. It's the "I know this is good for me," hurt though.

To allay your hippie fears, yoga probably isn't the answer for now because you will not be able to focus and apply pressure exactly where it needs to go. The "massage therapist" I go to makes you feel 99% not crunchy when you walk out. It's a, "WTH just happened to me?" But it's better than cortisone shots and "just don't work out" advice. What happened to me 11 hours ago is setting in, and I'll feel much better in about 36.

Go to physical therapy, have them evaluate you, and recommend stretching exercises. They can also show you safe ways to stretch. It wouldn't hurt to go to a few sessions so they can gauge your progress. Your health insurance should pay for it, though you should check to make sure. Since you're sixty it's risky to try to do it by yourself.
I had a damaged shoulder from falling when I was 64 and stopped exercising for a while. Stretching has helped me regain flexibility.

I hope you're not trying to do what I think you're trying to do.

I'm over 60 with two bulging discs that I keep in check with stretching though not as much as I should. Carrying weight is also a problem. I have a 91 year old friend that religously stretches throughout the day though he has the time to do it. He also does light weights for high reps. He took first place this past summer in the Pan AM Masters in discuss, Javelin, and high jump. He is living proof that stretching and weights done correctly is a life changer.
