We're talking about dental work, not sexual intercourse.

Same. Zero issues with my teeth/gums. Brush and floss every day. Use mouthwash about once or twice a week. Still have my wisdom teeth, too, even though during my last visit they were trying to pressure me to get them taken out.

Is the the descaling? It’s fricking miserable. I had to get Novocain to finish that cleaning.

I have had several and have developed problems immediately after. Teeth became loose and lost several. IMO a deep cleaning may force bacteria deep into the pocket and cause worse problems.

If you people would brush and floss twice daily and quit chugging Mountain Dew by the gallon I might feel more sympathy for you. People are willing to invest more time and money taking care of their car than their teeth.

I ended up getting peridontal disease, which was my fault from not brushing like I should. Woke up and my gums were bleeding. Went to the dentist and had to get the peridontal cleaninf.
That shite was brutal, had to do one side at a time. It’s basically removing gum tissue and you bleed like a stuck hog. Only thing worse than the cleaning was the shots in the top of the mouth to numb it.

My wife is a hygienist, and what I've learned through the years is that the average person has some seriously disgusting teeth.

A scam for the most part. The hygienist often gets a commission of total production so they push deep cleaning because they can bill $800 plus vs the cost of a reg cleaning.

Last summer I was quoted a price of $350 for the initial exam, i booked an appointment and cancelled it the next day. Oh and that price was the first thing they wanted me to know about. I could afford it, but it it’s all about he $ screw them, I’m one less customer and let others know about it so they are not screwed over.

I’ve been seeing a dentist with Exceptional Dental in New Orleans. Yes they are a large operation with multiple locations. They really are exceptional. I have nothing but the highest praise for the practice. I have probably in excess of $35,000 dental work done in my past, so I have been around the block a few times. I hate going to the dentist, but love going to Exceptional.

That’s a BS up sell tactic .

I had a dental hygienist tell me that BS. My response, “ if my insurance pays 100%, sure”

They made me sign a waiver to do the regular cleaning. Haha.

Went back to my old dentist. He said my teeth were fine and nothing looked bad.

I went to a new dentist recently and they did this shite.

I waterpik, sonicare toothbrush, and listerine twice a day and this lady said that I had too big of a measurement on like 4 teeth in the back? Meaning the gums were like a single millimeter too high on my teeth?

Then tried to charge me like $800 to get this treatment to "kill the bacteria" that caused my measurements to be bigger than they want. I said no thanks. They call me like once every month asking me to reschedule another deep clean appointment.

My old dentist would always say my teeth were some of the cleanest he's seen.

Complete scam.

dentists are running a business, mine is smart enough to let her underlings do the hard sell work and I just call BS on it and get what I need, I've threatened to go to another dentist but she's pretty good, and pretty hot, so I keep coming back, I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for her letting a hygienist go

Starting about 2 years ago, it's pockets this, pockets that after my old dentist retired and sold the practice.
As I understand it, pockets is a term that Periodontists use. I busted out two teeth in a mountain biking accident four years ago and I used a highly recommended Periodontist for my implants. I now refuse to be seen by any other dentist because I'm so implressed with her work and practice. She isn't cheap either. She checks for pockets around those implants (and others) and makes sure my gums don't recede and expose the implant.

I think the other thing Periodontists are fixated with is gums and gum disease, hence the routine measuring of pockets. I've never had someone in their office suggest a "deep clean" though, although I do have cleanings every six months.

They also have this stand up CT/MRI machine that images your entire skull. Very cool images, and they were used to get a look at my sinus cavities. She had to build up my jaw where the implant was going to be seated with cadaver/synthetic bone 1-2 mm because she didn't have enough room for the implant.
