I've eaten at McDonald's in Tokyo, Frankfurt, and Bolzano.
The Italian one was the best. They had about 20 different desserts and espressos.

Frankfurt Airport for breakfast. They didn't have American-style biscuits!

The Burger King on St. Maarten sells Heineken.

In Singapore they don't serve beef and one of the popular menu items is "chicken singaporridge"

I did in Germany in the 90s and in France last year.
I Germany, the promoted burger on the menu was the McFarmer. I busted out laughing. Sounded like they were grinding up farmers to feed us.
The food was ok, I needed ketchup and went to to the counter to get some. Grabbed 2 packets and walked off. Almost got tackled for not paying for the ketchup. They couldn’t believe the ketchup was free in the US.
Paris McD was below average.

Didn’t you learn from Pulp Fiction? Go to Burger King in Paris and get a royale with cheese!

Might've been the same in Brazil, I don't recall. But they sold beer everywhere. Imagine walking through an aquarium and there are little beer stands throughout.

Ate at a two-story McDonald's in Liverpool, England in 1988.
They sold beer!
It wasn't called McBeer, though...

I ate at McDonald’s and hungry jacks (Burger King) in Australia. Both had pretty much the same American menu plus some other shite. Mostly the same but slightly better and different sauces

No one cares that you were in Australia.

Well at least one person does, because I ate Mackas while there

quote:I just had some in Spain because we were told (by some locals) that it has to be sourced within 50 miles or whatever AND has to be served within 72 hours of the slaughter. Not sure I believe that, but it did seem pretty good.

Pink or dark brown. This was almost 20 years ago.

Seoul, South Korea in the 80's. Fries were the same, the burgers were off somehow, not sure how to describe it, the meat was not spoiled or anything, maybe different fat content or something, just tasted off. But hey it was a bit of a treat to get up to Seoul every now and again. Burger King had the contracts for the Army posts back then, they were identical to their stateside locations.

Mexico, Korea, France, Italy and Germany, that I can recall. Most memorable menu was Korea with weird shite like kimchi on the "local selections". Germany had the best by a mile, was better than Chik-fil-a here. It was like the final solution to the fast food question.

I've eaten at them in Japan after being there for along time and loved having it . I ate at the one in Paris on the champs Elyeese and got a beer just because of Pulp Fiction.

I was just thinking about what McDonald’s does in other countries to try to cater to the local tastes that are popular in those countries. Is the menu significantly different? Is the way the restaurant is designed much different?
Did six weeks in Japan with a crippling addiction to the bacon/egg/cheese biscuit. Other than the "bacon" being more like grilled canadian bacon, it was the same. I was pleasantly surprised.
