Yes. We got married after 8 years and 2 kids and made it a less than a year after. Just too much background to be any good for each other together any longer. Went our separate ways(except for the children of course)and now 22 years later we are very close and i work for her and her husband. She even has joint custody of my third child that isnt hers. Id say it worked out for the best for all involved, primarily the children. She was always the one. Probably still is. We had our time and it expired is the best way i can explain it. I enjoyed the time but the memories are more fond than the reality of being there in the moment.

Dated a woman for 2.5 years. Was at the point where it was get engaged or end it. Chose to end it for two reasons- 1)she wanted to have a child within the first year of marriage and I wanted to wait at least 2 years, and 2) her parents tried to buy me off, meaning they offered me the MIL suite in their home rent and utility free with the understanding that she and I would get engaged/married.
She ended up marrying an older man and they had a little girl 11 months after the wedding. I told her a few years later (the last time I communicated with her) that marrying her was the best decision I could have made and marrying me was the worst decision she could have made. She got exactly what she wanted and I wasn't willing to do so.

I feel so sorry for you. I hope that there is more to the story than what you have shared. I hope you found another cute girl to share your life with.

Yes, she did the break up. I was crushed and miserable and bitter for a long time.
Turns out, she did me a favor, and I found the real “one”.
This, but my case had about a decade of dealing with my psycho narcissist ex thrown in the mix before finding the better half.
Time and experience have taught me that the whole ‘one’ concept is complete bullshite, though.

No. I’m the dumbass that took great girls for granted and didn’t realize they should have been the one.

No.
The prior “ones” I always had doubts about.
Still married to the one going on 20 years. Still have ups and downs but overall good times with a great connection, at least during the times that she’s not acting like a complete fricking bitch for no reason.

Broke up with "the [same] one" twice.
Married 35 years (third time was the charm).
You married the same "third" "one"?

and I am thankful that they do - at the time i was taking care of her and her kids, working full time providing for all of us while she was in school.
all for the best - got my old job back when i moved home, been there 21 years. met and married my now wife, been together with her for 13 years, married for 10.
i think i came out way fricking better. had some dark times, and contemplated suicide a few times, but I ended up far better off.

Me 19 and her 23. Like rabbits. We just decided out of the blue, for no reason, to part ways. She lives in FL also now, with her third husband.

Yeah, she came and told me she was having an emotional affair with another man. She said she hadn't slept with him, but I asked an internet message board for advice and they all said she was definitely getting poked.
I broke it off a few hours ago.
If this is true, good for you man. Real talk, you'll be better off and if she hadn't poked him yet, she would have.
If you're trolling, frick off.

High school sweetheart and I dated for another year and a half after high school. Then she decided she wanted to be with my best friend. She actually broke it off with me. I was pretty torn up about it. Fast forward to today, she has been divorced 3 times, is currently single, no kids. I have been married almost 30 years, 3 daughters and one grand daughter.

My first fiancé broke it off much to the delight of my parents. In fact they called her the antichrist (and they were right).
