not really, at least for me

I just like high end shite that takes a beating, particularly if the brands have good stories/people (saddleback) or they are old as shite (the london leather companies)

My motivation when it comes to briefcases and wallets and the like is more along the lines of "i'd like my grandkids to think it's cool to have this" than impressing anyone. Plus high quality leather is really only impressive to gear dorks anyway.

I use a saddleback leather wallet. It's the same type of design as that one, but it has more of a rough, rustic feel to it. That Allen Edmonds looks more refined. It's also more expensive. I think the Saddleback wallets run about $50-$60. They are good quality though and definitely made to last. It definitely will outlast me. A legit critique about them is that the leather is hard and needs to be broken in. I have heard from other people and experienced it a bit myself that it can be hard on your cards until it gets broken in.

I got one. I thought the leather and construction seemed a step above the other department store stuff and has 10 card bays/pockets on each side. I have had it for three or four years. Still looks nice and functions. It just sits in my pocket so I don't know why people are giving you shite about designer/status symbol preoccupation.

It's a pretty average looking wallet for the price to be $125

Allen Edmonds make some nice stuff so I'm sure there wallet would be ok. I'm more of a money clip guy and haven't worn a wallet in my back pocket in 15 years. Hurts my bony arse

If I still had a wallet from when I was in High School, it would also be a fossil.

I've used a Saddleback medium bifold daily for the past 3 years. It is built like a tank-almost too much so. Still not broken in. Cards are still tough to remove and it hurts to sit on. Still looks brand new after 3 years. I think it was $55.
