I have a lot of connections in that area. It has spread to three tanks, naptha spilling into the dikes. Out of control

This is not good, realistic chance they could lose the whole tank farm.

Cargill grain elevator is right next to the refinery, and the ADM grain elevator is not far away on River rd.

Do you not recall the IMTT tank farm fire in Deer Park a couple of years ago?

That fire at IMTT spread more than it should have bc the EPA OSC wouldn’t let responders use foam. Once the fire started rolling down the ditches towards the butadiene spheres he turned them loose and they had it contained and largely ended in a couple of hours.

Thank the enviros for their war on PFAs for making these events a lot more dangerous than they need to be.

If we just switched to strictly Green Energy we wouldn't have to deal with stuff like this -- Liberals

Looks like they're doing a good job laying foam preventing it from spreading further.

And they'll learn from a legal standpoint, releasing this much information this early is a bad idea. There is a reason why others only release 3 sentences that follow the same lay out. "We are aware, we are taking preventative measures, and we will report additional information once available."

Marathon to Shut Third-Largest US Oil Refinery After Storage Tank Fire

Just read this on Bloomberg. 3 rd fire within a year! WOW!

Shutting down their Garyville plant will make a big impact on the local economy.

I doubt production will be shut down for very long. Some units can probably roll with no issues

Honestly surprised they are shutting it down at all.

Might be a worse outcome to go through a shutdown and trigger another ignition point. Unless of course they are in the path of hydrocarbons going through operating units.

Trust me Marathon is not permanently shutting that refinery down. It is their most profitable facility especially since it is not union.
