Even then. The fricking Samoans.

They put the original ones in the business so they would stop beating up the wrestlers in the SF territory.

Not sure big boy makes it 5 seconds and they wouldn’t stop when he was out.

a local guy in the crowd, who was a bit off his rocker ?, wanted to fight BOTH of "The Samoans".
my grandfather wasn't that crazy. He knew he could take Cornette though.

He also knew some guys who would drive to the hotels to slash the tires of the wrestlers cars. Since the wrestlers got smart to getting a cab or a ride to the building

Cornette has mentioned this. The fans would do this to the Midnights and the Freebirds, so they started getting the cops to drive them to the arena in certain cities.

Then the fans started slashing the cops’ tires.

My grandmother sold jewelry to The Junkyard Dog and Cocoa Sammon.

Saw Akem the African Dream at the Siegen Movie Theater.

Drove a few of them around for a fund raiser celebrity golf event in 2010.

WWE was in Monroe for a smack down or something a few years ago, Roman Reigns was at the rack over from me at the Monroe Athletic Club. Physical Specimen and made me look like a bitch but he actually was cool and talked to me in between sets. There were some other wrestlers there but I haven’t followed since I was a kid/teenager so I didn’t recognize them.

I live in Tampa and there are a lot of professional wrestlers that reside down here. Ive met 4 just by chance including Cena.

When I was a little kid way back in 1967 through 1971 we lived in a cul de sac across the street from a pro wrestler. His neighbor directly across from us was a nurse (came in handy when I dropped one of those spike type sprinklers and split my foot open, they were made of iron back then). On the other side of him were the troublesome idiot teens that not only huffed gasoline, one drank some and nearly died.

He'd occasionally have one or two other wrestlers over practicing in the garage. Dad always called him Steamboat Sammy but he wrestled as Sammy Steamboat(wikipedia) I was only 3 to 6 years old so wasn't that into wrestling then.

My great grandfather almost killed Jim Cornette in Houma back in the day.

We've laughed about it.

My friend hit Cornette in the head with a large cup of ice in the ring. This was at the Centroplex in the 80s.
He and the Midnight Express left in a POS beat up Cadillac.

It was. My dad ran into the million dollar man several times at Waffle House. I had some drinks with an old wrestler at superior grill about 7 years ago. Dude was famous af in his heyday but I can’t remember his name for the life of me. Ugly, long hair and talked about all the crazy matches his was in with real weapon type stuff.

We were going to Rupp Arena to watch a set of matches, I think back in the late 70's, forget the exact time frame. About 20 miles from Lexington, we saw a van parked on the side of the road and a bunch of men standing around. My brother was driving and pulled over.
Turned out to be a fan full of wrestlers on their way to Rupp. They had a flat, and had a spare, but no lug wrench, so my brother let them use the one he had.
They gave us VIP passes to sit ringside.
Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo were 2 of them. This was before Randy was a "star". I believe they were real life brothers.

Lots of old timers still live in Charlotte. Magnum TA lives probably a mile from me (with Tully Blanchard’s ex wife). Also know a pilot who works with Georgeous Jimmy Garvin.

During one of the many rabbit holes I’ve gone down, in looking at Larry Sweeney’s Wikipedia, it says he killed himself by handing himself from a turnbuckle at a wrestling school in Lake Charles, LA. Didn’t know they had a school there.

I've been a ring and messed around bounced of the ropes and shite. My buddy's dad use to own Mid South Wrestling when it was long past its prime. He was the ring announcer and I was the time keeper and played music when the wrestlers came out.

Met Big Poppa Pump, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Chris Adam's, Junk Yard Dog, Michael PS Hayes, Bad Company..... more that I'm forgetting.

Randy Thornton aka Swoll used to go to the gym I went to. Talked to him a few times, super nice dude. Down to Earth, always had a smile and genuine.
