That business card just made me laugh.

I have no doubt he got old fast. And it's never going to be good when someone is hounding you about getting money.

Yep, my dad's oldest brother. I don't know his whole story, but what I know is he went to seminary school when he was young, left and went to college for accounting and became a CPA. Not sure how long the accounting thing lasted, because I always knew him as a cab driver living in a shitty apartment. Then one day he disappeared for about 3 years, and we didn't even know if he was even still alive.

The entire extended family was over at my parents house for our Christmas Eve party, and he shows up during the middle of dinner unannounced, with no one having heard from him in years. He then lived on the couch in my parents basement for about 6-7 months before we got him set up in a 1 room apartment at the YMCA and collecting SS checks.

The guy is very intelligent, he just doesn't have it all together.

ETA Alcohol/drugs were never his issue, his only vice is smoking hand rolled cigs like a chimney

Yepp, basically dads entire side. He married my mom and joined the military to get away. Twice I’ve had cousins I haven’t seen in years call me from jail asking for bail, hung up on both. Half the family is meth heads and the other half is heroin addicts.

Grandma is now in a nursing home due to advanced Alzheimer’s, Dad is paying for it all of his own pockets. They target my parents since they’re the only successful ones out the bunch. They’re all fighting over the inheritance and my dad just let them have it to avoid all the garbage; just watching the situation unfold has given me so much respect for my parents.

A drug-riddled cousin moved into a house not far from you? Your neighborhood sounds trashy.

This thread is a huge endorsement for the idea of birth licenses. People should have to prove that they can and will support a child before birthing one. Then, if they don't they're offered a choice of prison or sterilization to insure that they don't make more kids for the taxpayers to support.

Not exaggerating either. One year he tried to sell me (and every male at the Christmas party) penis enlargement pills. I was about 12 at the time.

He had business cards that said "Sandwich Technician and KISS Army General". He worked at Subway and wore a leather KISS jacket.

Really does sound like a pretty hilarious movie character

In his defense, that's expected in New Orleans

Having the seks is fun and free. Kids are expensive, time consuming, and difficult to raise. Small wonder that those who freely participate in the former in their younger years often fail in the later after the birth.

I had a few derelicts in my extended fam. Everyone is currently out of jail now and gainfully employed. We have a very positive trajectory going on right now so I hope everyone keeps riding the wave in the right direction

yep, both sides of my family. Aunt and Uncle. Funny thing is they were both born way late in my Grandmother's lives. Like 10 years younger than the nearest sibling

I have a cousin that is a mess. Grown arse man that still lives with his parents and steals his mom’s pills. We’re the same age (32) and grew up together as kids.

He called me out the blue a few years ago telling me he wants to get his life in order and if I’d help. Purely based on nostalgia of being kids I said sure. I agreed to let him stay on my couch for 5 days as long as he proves to me he’s out looking for jobs.

Well a week later than he said he’d be here, his mom drops him off at my place. First night was fine. We had a few brews reminiscing about being kids. Next day he may or may not have gone on the job hunt. But that night after I went to bed, he stole my keys and took my car out to pick up this trashy girl he apparently knew. I wake up around 3 to go piss and notice he’s not home and the car is gone.

I called him and after hearing how angry I was he FINALLY made it back an hour later all fricked up. I told him I never wanted to see him again and kicked his arse out of the house.

Haven’t spoken to that fricker in 5 years. From what I gather he met this girl who has like 4 kids from another guy and they all live with my aunt and uncle.

Trash is gonna trash

Every family has some fricked up family members. My mom has 7 siblings, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. One of her brothers is a complete idiot.

He has always had a job, but never kept one for long. No shite, every job he has ever had he would eventually get pissed off at someone and either quits or gets fired.

He married and had two kids, but soon after his second kid he and his wife divorced. After my grandmother passed away he moved in with my grandpa (his dad). My grandpa paid for everything.. Utilities, food, cable.. I think the only thing he paid for was his vehicle and insurance, but somehow still found a way to get in debt (and didn't have anything. It wasn't as if he was spending it on a bunch of shite because he had nothing).

At one point he wanted to live on his own. I was living in my families house... After my dad passed and my mom was not. He asked her if he could stay with her for about a month while he got his stuff together. So she told him he could stay at the house I was in. One night me and a cousin of mine had gone somewhere and we came back to my house and he was on the phone. This was early 2000s so he found some chick in the classifieds in the advocate. When we came inside he was motioning for us to be quiet. We had been drinking and my cousin says really loud "Are you still looking for young boys to molest".. The woman hung up the phone.

At the time we had no idea who he was talking to, but he was pissed and moved out the next day.. Went back to my grandpas (he probably got into it with my grandpa and that's why he decided he wanted to live on his own).

He eventually meets this woman who looks like a man. If you saw her, you would have to interact with her a little bit before you figure out she is a woman. He gets her pregnant. She has the kid and months later she takes the kid and goes to Arkansas, but for about a week he had no idea where they were. It ended up in him having to go to court. He had to borrow money from his sisters to get a lawyer. While they were split up, she and the little girl lived at the homeless shelter on Florida blvd.

My mom and a few of the other sisters felt bad for the kid. They ended up buying him a trailer and a used truck so that the kid would have a home and he would be able to tend to her needs, but told him that the man looking woman, his ex, could not live with him or use the truck.. So he moves in to some government apartment that she was put in. She kicks him out and he goes back to the trailer. She got kicked out of her government apartment and secretly moved back in the trailer with him. When the sisters found out they just didn't want to deal with it. They just wanted the kid to have a home. His brother (my uncle) and his wife decided they would take in the kid.

The mother, who doesn't do anything for the kid, didn't want them to adopt her, but that she could live with them. They pretty much take care of her.. Feed her, cloth her, takes care of her schooling, but when she goes home with her mother (which she would go to after school), her mother would tell her things to try to make her hate them.. He is and has always been a complete shite show.

Seriously ... I need a license to drive, fish, hunt, practice medicine, practice law, carry a concealed handgun, etc, etc, etc.

Create another human being? Have at it! Anything goes!

When I'm in charge, not everyone is going to be allowed to reproduce. (Or own power tools, but that's another discussion). Sterilization will be offered at no cost to the individual. However, rather than putting an unlicensed parent in prison, I'll be taking the children away from the unworthy parents and delivering them to pre-approved adoptive parents. Might even have state run "orphanages" that actually care and nurture the children, teaching them right from wrong and helping them become productive members of society, instead of the street urchins they're doomed to become with their birth parents.

My idea can't be any worse than what's currently happening in the U.S.
