I've had one for years, along with numerous other smokers/grills. Right now I have 3 different rigs I use for smoking. I primarily use the electric for times when I need to do other things and can't watch a smoker for 4-8 hours. It's pretty easy to use so I can entrust adding chips, water and watching the temp to someone less experienced. It does a fine job.

I have a couple of different smokers...both charcoal and electric. my favorite is still the charcoal, as I like really heavy smoke flavor and the charcoal provides that.

The electric is pretty slick, as it holds a much steadier temperature and that makes cooking much more predictable. Basically, you set the temp you want and you can really cook the whole night without checking on it. Also, you don't have to worry about wind or cold effecting your cook time like you do with charcoal.

Which product you choose is really a matter of personal preference.

If I were looking for electric, my choice would certeainly be another masterbuilt.

I haul this behind my lifted F-250 Platinum at all times. Yeah, it may block the view of my truck nuts, but it's worth it, especially during a turnaround.

Masterbuilt 30 inch

i have this smoker. I use it for deer sausage and such. Get the Amazin pellet smoker tray with it and do the mail box mod (on youtuve) and it is great. If i could go back and do it again I would pay the extra money for the 40 inch version. I have no complaints other than the size.

Spend the money and get something that will last. Look at Smokin Tex. Had one for years.

I use thus same set up with the 40". It works fine on briskets and anything else. The pellet smoker tray is great.

I have a Masterbilt and I love it. Have had it for years. So easy and the temp stays constant without any assistance from me. I put on a pork butt at bedtime and it is done in the morning or before lunch depending on its size.

Love it.

I have the Masterbuilt and recommend it. Electric smokers are great when you want to add smoke flavor to any meat but don't have the time to fire up the regular smoker or won't be around to monitor the temps.

yeah i've gone back and forth on investing in a "real" smoker for years. right now i have a $40 cheapo that i can make work that i got at a garage sale for free when buying a weber grill (which i also have used)

i think when i spend money, it's going to be on an electric one. i don't like super smoke on my food (i even remove a lot of my meat after 3-4 hours and finish in the oven) and most of the time i smoke to just cook lots of food for cheap (except ribs. frick ribs)

Close friend was a charcoal only guy for years, but broke down and bought an electric smoker too. I've heard him say the same thing. He likes his. Haven't heard him say anything bad about it.

I have a Smokin It electric and it works great. Toss meat in, go to the beach or pool all day and it's done.

I've been using a Brinkmann electric smoker for years. I've cooked a lot of different things on it including brisket. Works great.

Get a big green egg. I live to eat and my wife eats to live and she loves everything I cook on the egg. My kids refuse to eat burgers cooked on anything else.

I’ve had masterbuilts and cookshack style clone electrics (Smokin It brand name.)

Look at pellet smokers if you feel like spending money, ease of electric with perfect TBS every time. Masterbuilts are terrible electrics, they work much better as pellet smokers with the AMNPS tray.

They are pretty much the same as a masterbuilt with an AMNPS pellet tray. You people are way too in love with those ceramics for something that is just ok at everything.
