I have no issue with these cars with beds. It suits 95% of the people who might use a truck bed once or twice a year.

I use mine damn near every weekend but I could probably easily move to a Tacoma or something like that now that the kids are pretty much grown.

"Ford Maverick Sales Explode In January, Outsells Toyota Tacoma"

Simple explanation: The 24 Tacoma is a new body style so, production of the 23 stopped late last year to sell them down. Dealers were out of inventory while they waited for the 24 to arrive.

That’s ok. My 2013 Tacoma will still be turnin’ and burnin’ when all these Ford “Mavericks” are on the scrap heaps.

Probably not, your Tacoma is about 15 model years past the reliability peak as far as those thrucks go.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued six recalls for the 2013 Toyota Tacoma. One of these resolves a serious engine issue, like weak valve springs that can break and cause the motor to stall while driving.

Still on pace for 150K sold a year. That's second to only the Tacoma in the midsize and down segment.

Looks like it came off the Ford Fairmount my family had in the 80s.

My first vehicle was a Fairmont. Minor things would pop up with it, but you could not kill that vehicle...I tried while I was in college. Thanks for bringing up some memories for me.

One of my first cars that I bought with my own money was a Late 70's Chevy Monza hatchback. Had a built 327 in it and that thing would fly.

A friend had a Chevy Vega with a 327 stuffed in it. He put most of his paycheck into hot-rodding that motor. With 4:11 gears, it was a 1/4 mile monster. I saw him beat everything from Corvettes to a truck with a souped up 454.

I was interested in one when they were introduced. But because of the chip shortage the waiting list was 6 to 8 months or more. They didn't even have one on the lot to inspect.

My first car in the late 70s was a 1970 Maverick. It looked pretty close to this.

It’s a unit body - just like the Ford Escape and Transit Connect. Basically a smaller, less reliable, and less powerful version of the Ridgeline.

It’s a great idea because it’s small enough to fit in urban garages and it’s cheap to build.

I really like the new Tacoma. I was worried about Toyota screwing it up like they did the new Tundra. It turned out really well.

Nope. My dumb thumb. Mine is a 2012, 4.0L, V6, not in the recall. Recall was for 2013-2014, 2.7L engines. My original post stands with the truth.

There was a guy around here in the early 80s that had a v8 Maverick with a shift kit.
That sucker chirped the tires when shifting.

I've seen a few around. They look pretty decent. However, this to me as a Ford Maverick:

Mercury had their version called the Comet, which was originally their version of the Ford Falcon.

Was that the actual name from Ford? If so, that’s fantastic.

Anti-Establish Mint was indeed an official Ford paint name. They had several "cool" names, usually, they were called a fairly mundane name for most of the larger cars and trucks but they gave it the cool moniker for Mustangs, Mavericks, and the like.

There was:

Three Putt Green
There She Blew
Bring Em Back Olive
Last Stand Custard
Good Clean Fawn
Young Turquoise
Original Cinnamon
Hullu Blue
Freudian Gilt
Thanks Vermillion

Pfft, I have two Mavericks 22 and 23.
Eco boost in both. Average 29 MPG in mixed driving.
No issues yet. Pretty quick truck and the inside is pretty roomy. Back seat is big and has under seat storage. Get 34 mpg at 75-80 on the highway.

That red pin stripe gives it a Patriotic flair. Is that a '76 model?

Irrelevant. It’s like comparing a Tundra to an F250.
