A buddy of mine got sticker shield off of Amazon (I think). It keeps sticker adhesive off of the tint.

Bought my car when I lived in AZ. Had it tinted b/c it gets hot AF there and it looks good.

Back here, it's illegal b/c who TF knows?

Pointless to move it from 40% to 25% as the only % in the middle is 35. That combined with your factory glass vlt of ~70% you’re at 25% (or slightly under) with 35% film.

35% isn’t shite, so what was the point of this?

Of all the problems that they could have worked on, this is the one they all got together and said, "This is what means the most to our constituents. We need to get to work on this ASAP."

I tried that, the inspection sticker person said it’s not allowed.

This greedy arse state will get you one way or another.

My old truck had 5% all around, and I loved it. Truck stayed relatively cool in the summer and I didn't have to worry about degenerates looking in my windows.

When I got the new truck tinted, the wife gave me a bunch of shite about how she didn't like the old tint because she couldn't look out the windows at night.

So I went with the legal tint on the front windows.

I shouldn't have listened to her.

Wouldn’t the factory glass vlt (whatever that is) of 70% be included in the old 40%?

No. Your final meter’d VLT must read 40% or higher (there’s slight leeway, like 2-3% typically). So to meter at 40% (legal), the film is typically 50% (which really meters at 52-54% typically).

So in reality, they are allowing 35% film now rather than just 50%. 35% is very, very light. As a reference, factory SUV and Truck rear windows are typically 15-20% So simply matching the rear windows is still not even close to allowed.

Does this apply to darkened license plate covers too?

Interesting thread. I just had a StTSO deputy tell me that any tint added after market is illegal. Can anyone verify this information.

There is no better example of the collect and serve legal system than tint laws and tickets.

Agreed. Which is why the state should allow clear windshield tint, too.

Why do the police need tint? And why, if it’s a safety issue for a common person to have tint, is it not a safety issue for police to have tint?

With new ceramic tint, darker doesn't keep more heat out. It's just for looks.

So you’re okay with the civilian tint law applying to law enforcement then?
