Unless you don't think mask mandates are a problem, that is.
It's less about the government mandate and more about the private business policy.
If the store wants to liken it to "no shirt, no shoes, no service" that is their prerogative.

I understand, but their rights don't exist in a vacuum, and their stores are where I meet the government's mandate.
They require masks because the government tells them to, so the individual store mandate is just a part of the overall scheme that I want to resist.
I don't enjoy stepping on their toes but it's worth it to me to be part of the push-back, and I think everyone who opposes the mandates should put that into action.

They are choosing to enforce those mandates and thus control their private property in a certain manner.

And in doing so you only harm the store, not the government mandate.
Your short-sightedness is staggering.

got my second vaccine shot a little over a week ago. I’ve been wearing a mask since probably last May inside stores, maybe April. I went in Walmart without one yesterday and told I couldn’t come in, I said ok and left. Went to Brookshires and I was asked if I wanted a mask and I politely declined and said I’m vaccinated. 5 minutes later a fat arse white woman came up telling me I should have my mask on, I ignored her but yea this all really sucks. I’m not waiting on a cure to stop wearing a mask.
The mask isn't for you, science denier. It's for every one else.
Just comply.

I get that, but until there is proof that a fully vaccinated person can still transmit the virus to someone else I no longer plan on wearing one. As of now, at least in their controlled studies, that proof isn't there. I'm not going to cause a scene in public over it, I'll just simply say ok and go somewhere else.

Attention “content creators:”
No one wants to see a damn music video, meme, or extra sound effect edited into a video that you are sharing. You are not funny or creative.

It's not a free choice. It's a matter of maintaining their ability to do business, so they don't really have a choice.

Tell me how I'm harming the store. They aren't facing any penalties from the government where I am, as long as they say they are enforcing the mandate.

Short-sighted to me would be what I perceive you to be doing. Complying with the store policies because they have rights, even though, in so doing, you are playing along with government mandates that have decreased everyone's rights and showing the government that people will comply with future mandates. Short-sighted is exactly the accusation I would level at that behavior.
What about my position is short-sighted?

Simple to just wear it around the chin. Abide by store policy and piss off mask nazi’s

Isn't going somewhere else offering resistance to them? After all, you're going to spend money with a store that has a policy you agree with rather than one you don't agree with.
You don't have to be an a-hole because you disagree with whether a store enforces a mask mandate. I haven't worn a mask in months, and only had one place say something. I told them I would spend my money elsewhere and left, a big scene isn't necessary.

One only needs to say “I don’t have a mask because I can’t afford one, that’s why I’m shopping here at Walmart.” That doesn’t work?

Not true they can’t force you to wear a mask. Can’t ask you why you’re not wearing a mask. I know for a fact this is correct so either you did do this or else you just decided not to go in.

I was told I need a mask on when I walked in the door. Correct I decided not to go in, I didn’t argue or cause a scene, I just walked out.

Unless you are at Costco - then they tell you to put it over your nose and mouth

Did the part where he said ok and left clue you in to this?

Sure, if you want to be part of the problem. Unless you don't think mask mandates are a problem, that is. In that case, carry on.
If you have a problem with mask mandates but you offer no resistance to them, what does that make you?
Do you think its a problem that stores have a "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy?

What point does one make by being resistant to mask mandates?
Lets say you have a grocery store that is 2 mins from you.. The second closes is a 20 mins drive. The one closes to you requires you to wear a mask, the second closes does not. Would you go to the one that is 20 mins away just so you don't have to put on a mask?
