I graduated from U of Corona in Mask Studies and can tell you that masks protect you from 80% of the Rona and 10% of STDs.

I would really love to understand how anyone with a reasonable education can be so dim on this issue. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

The HR guy who works at a rice mill 20 miles down the road from me has shut down the rice mill from July 1st - August 1st as a precaution. My buddy who is a miller there has told me he's been a real hardass about shaming people for going on vacations, seeing friends and family. Out of the 50+ people who work at that rice mill, only 1 person has covid... can you guess who? The fricking HR guy.

this is the equivalent of the thread arguing that you are a statist if you wear a mask

both are dumb, reductionist arguments made by simple minded people

This "anti-mask" thing is becoming like "global warming"

Neither is an either/or issue.

You can believe masks work, while also disagreeing with government mandates.

You can believe in global warming, while disagreeing with the government solution, or the level of imminent danger.

Yes I went to college.
Yes I know a lot more than you on this issue. If you want to debate me, I’m here and ready.

Pompous people like you think anti maskers are claiming they do not work. That’s your lack of hearing out the other side.

Cloth mask will stop a small percentage of droplets and sneezes. No one is arguing against that, meanwhile that’s the basis of every idiot’s tirade against someone who thinks masks are worthless.

They are not worthless because they will not stop some droplets. They are worthless because people do not wear them correctly, they do not dispose of them after they leave each store. They touch their mask then touch door handles and everything else.

Review of every controlled trial on mask efficacy

Yes, I'm a college graduate and think wearing a mask is idiotic.

don't worry - you'd know if Riceland or Producers went down. We'd have some major issues

and the cost is basically 0

in terms of personal responsibility (not government mandate), the rational choice is to wear a mask

if masks were costly, then there would be an argument. that is the crucial variable

The ShamWow guy wants 29.95 for his mask.

But if you order now, he'll throw in a bonus one.

I'm not holistically anti-mask. I just think it's a band-aide meant to virtue signal and make people feel better about something out of their control. If you're feeling sick, you should stay home. If you're old and vulnerable, you should stay home. These people should be wearing a mask at home if someone comes to visit and those visitors should wear masks. But healthy people wearing them out in public, where they should be staying away from others... pointless.
