I don’t know exactly what you trying to say here… because it’s kind of a big thing that Tyler Perry used his own money not to have to deal with certain unions if I remember correctly… pretty sure he footed the bill… remember him saying people telling him it was a bad investment… of course those people were wrong in hindsight

There are at least three studios either under construction or about to break ground in the New Orleans area right now. Do we need another one?

He is kinda a douche and racist. I'm not a fan of the MCU but definitely not a fan of his.

I know Matt Mascona is extremely punchable, but there is a story about him almost fighting with Anthony Mackie at the 2019 sec championship game. Apparently Mackie is just an entitled douche.

We've had film crew workers rent our AirBnB south of Bogalusa in the last 6 months. It must be a thing.

If I'm right, Anthony's brother or his Dad is an Engineer, and a pretty good one at that.

MILRA was also being heavily funded by tax dollars to upkeep Fort Mac (poorly). He bought it for a song, but sunk a fortune into getting it up to speed. This then brought TD Jacks to the table to buy the rest, and I assure you the neighborhood will benefit.

I mean, I def don’t know shite about this.

Agreed, can’t hate on anyone doing this and wish it would happen more.

Without getting into the tax benefits and subsidies, at least someone is trying to do something positive in the east.

The guy is trying to at least do something constructive in the east and most of this board shits on him. The guy has enough money where he doesn't care if it fails I don't get everyone saying he is an idiot.

Also, that area isn't as much hood as it is just kind of deserted.

It’s actually brilliant. He won’t even have to hire actors to film live action fights with bad guys.

There are no bad guys that are black in movies.

All the bullshite about the East and It being a war zone, yes its bad. But areas don't get better without some economic stimulation and people investing (or in this case reinvesting) in their home city/state and people criticize it when someone does (not to mention a native of the state). Great Louisianian.

Good for him and good for the east. I hope he’s wildly successful with it. Everyone likes to clown on the east from time to time, myself included, but unless someone does something about it it will never get better. At least he’s doing SOMETHING. That’s more than 99% people here will ever do.

Never know, maybe this is the first step to returning NOE to its former glory. Or better.

Cheap land for them to operate. If the studio gets enough business it might be fine. This isn't a flip

I think it's pretty cool of him to do this and smart. If we as a state are going to subsidize film (which I think is stupid), then at least give us something more permanent like studios vs the carpet baggers that only come in, rape the subsidies, then leave.

There aren't any subsidies available for infrastructure, and haven't been for about 8 years. And studios are about the worst thing to incentivize. All a soundstage is is a warehouse. They don't add a tremendous amount of value, so when production does dry up (probably about 10 year window), none of these sound stages around the state will have any lasting importance.

Today there are close to 30 productions in principal photography in the state. Every soundstage in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport is filled, and productions are renting any large empty buildings with high ceilings they can.

Talking to some folks I know in production finance at some of the studios, and streamers there is so much content that will be produced over the next five years that infrastructure and crew are bigger drivers in where productions film than incentives are. That is a first in about 20 years. Now is a great stage to own a soundstage.
