So while your kids friends are all hanging out at the hotel pool having fun he's going to be stuck with his parents in a hotel room? Why would you do that? Its about your kid, not you.

Then don’t sign your kid up for sports thst usually have a social aspect…. Or. Feel free to live life alone in a different hotel but understand, the only one to suffer will be the kid..

This I agree with, my oldest daughter plays soccer, we rarely play somewhere where we have to stay overnight, but if we do, we often don't stay with everyone. We typically stay at a hotel with the 1-2 kids who go to her school. I think if you spend all the time around the whole group, it can be too much.

Trevor isn’t getting scouted.

Try to lighten up and enjoy your son while he’s still a kid.

Because in this particular instance, he’s isolating his son from the team because he doesn’t want to be “that guy”.

Nobody is saying you have to be best friends or anything more than acquaintances with these families, but his son is on a team and is presumably younger than 14 if he just now got into competitive baseball. I know if I was that aged I would want to hang out with the other 9-11 kids my own age that are part of my team versus stay in a different hotel by choice and just hang with my family.

Then just get him in the backyard hitting bottle caps and ping pong balls with a broom stick and grounders with a milk carton glove. Dominican style. They seem to do alright.

Don't waste your money.

Hotels? I guess travel ball is different in metro Atlanta. My kid has played travel ball here for 3 year and it is typically a 20-40 minute drive to whichever park. Never driven more than an hour other than the summer trip.

Anyway, if the people on your team are assholes don’t hang out with them. If they’re people you enjoy being around hang out with them. Don’t let a website meme about travel ball prevent you from widening your circle of friends/contacts.

No, you've got to go "all in". Go big or Go home.

Just pick the biggest loudest Travel Ball Mom and beat the heck out of her, OR the Dad - the choice is yours - I don't know whether you could beat up a guy or not.

Enjoy the experience, just don’t be one of those parents who insists that your kid is going to the MAJORS, and let him have fun, don’t get caught up in the drama, and there will be plenty

the misconception that the DR players in the pros are all street kids is so laughable. The DR has academies where they take the good athletes with promise away from their families around age 10, place them in the academies where they live, go to school and do 6-8 hours of baseball a day.

the idea that a bunch of street kids hitting bottle caps with a broom stick are the ones making the pros is so laughable.

I am sure there are other parents on the team with your same mindset.

They just aren’t arse holes.

Not proving any points by doing this, will just make your kid the butt of jokes and an outsider in the dugout. Join the Frat you already paid the dues.

It’s your job to make him better. Most of it is expectations. Yours, his.
