Has it been mentioned that he used a .45 pistol? Do you think we’ll call for a pistol ban now too?

Has the killer been discussed?
No doubt this confuses Anti-gun, anti-white liberals.
But, truthfully, not what any of us suspected.

As for the proposals not stopping this, shows we need harsher proposals.

Ah. That explains why I couldn't find coverage of this.
All of the blue checker Proggies I follow in Twitter declared yesterday that they want to "not give the shooter any publicity". I knew immediately he had to either not be white, or not be a Trump supporter (or both).
TY for the info.

after all this time, Chris Rock, yes, Chris Rock, still has the best proposal as far as gun related crimes....
and that should say something about the sad state of actual discussion (not what happens in these types of threads, where everyone is extreme polemicists) on this topic...

Because no one wants to address the actual problem and instead wants to focus on a tool.

very interesting word to use...
and what would you say is the actual problem? just curious...

Very interesting deflection of my comment.

That's weird. It's usually .40 S&W with these knuckleheads, if they use a handgun.

I don't know. But it's something we should be focusing on figuring out, not banning inanimate objects.
Too many people focus on the how instead of the why. It's intellectual laziness and emotional knee-jerk response.

i agree... but restrictions on CERTAIN inanimate objects MAY need to occur to fix this..
personally, i don't want anyone to lose their guns... all you gun nuts can keep every single one you already have... however, i do think there should be registry for each and every single gun, that we can account for each and every single gun no matter what point of sale, and higher caliber guns should require higher and higher prices and training in order to acquire them...
furthermore, laws should be put in place that if a crime is committed with an unregistered gun, it's a more severe offense, and if a crime is committed w/ a registered gun by someone other than the person it's registered to, its also a more severe offense...
of course, my other idea is to stay in context of when the 2nd amendment was enacted, and only have muzzleloaders available, but hey you can have all the muzzleloaders you want... but i don't think that is gonna get too far...

No, they don't. Unless you're talking amending the 2nd, which is the only correct way to do so.

Shall not be infringed. Amend the 2nd if you want the above.

And I'll agree to this the moment you agree to a ban of all media, electronic or otherwise, except the printing press.
You're still focusing on the tool, not the problem.

Maybe we could require people to undergo government training to vote as well or pick their religion.

I could post dozens of people arrested for being a convicted felon and carrying a gun, which is similar to what you’re suggesting, just from the NOLA area in the past week. Laws are there but not being prosecuted.

Cool, let’s keep the “context” of the rest of the bill of rights. Guess we can start burning people at the stake again.

This crap reminds me of all the anti-drug propaganda that you used to see on TV. It tends to backfire.
Some guy is just minding his own business until he gets bombarded with an agenda, whether "you really shouldn't do drugs, trust me" or "you really don't need a semi-automatic rifle" or "vaping is like, equivalent to hotboxing a cigar with a mouth full of Beech Nut."
People see this shite, and rightly perceive that it has this whole poorly-though-out, prejudiced agenda behind it, and they do the exact opposite of what they're asked. It's a fundamentally American response.

No, they don't.
why not? all sorts of other objects have restrictions on their availability and/or use... why should certain guns, not all, be exempt from this?
quote:

whatever... amend it, don't... i don't really care one way or the other about this, per se, but i just want gun violence to decrease while also preserving the right to own guns for purposes that are legitimate... hunting, sport, enthusiasts, etc...
quote:
Shall not be infringed
this lack of "infrigement' is allowing too many crazy people to take their right of owning a gun and "infringe" on other people's right to live... i mean, c'mon man... there are going to have to be concessions on BOTH sides if we are truly going to find a solution... i'd love to see pro-gun people stand up after something like this and say enough is enough, but you never see that... they shirk their responsibilities and say "it's not the time" to discuss it... bullshite is spewed by the other side, and then it's just echo chamber fodder after that... you know this...
quote:

sarcasm and hyperbole is obviously lost on you...

"you really don't need a semi-automatic rifle"
see "restriction" in my statement... i didn't say "ban"....
if you want a semi-auto, you can have one... you just have to prove, above and beyond, that you are a responsible gun owner, and that you accept responsibility for the gun itself... that's my proposal... nothing i've said said ban anything...
Posted on 6/1/19 at 10:52 am to brass2mouth
and brass, i agree, the laws we currently have are not being prosecuted enough, as they should and could be... maybe i should have clarified that with my comment about putting laws on the books, but i though it was inferred.... my bad..

2nd Amendment.

Then stop focusing on guns and instead find the reason why the guns are being used in that way. Along with bombs, trucks, etc.

I own guns. I am not infringing on your right to live. Why should my rights be curtailed just to make you feel safe about an occurrence that is statistically insignificant?
quote:
there are going to have to be concessions on BOTH sides
There already has been. The 1934 NFA, 1968 GCA, 1986 FOPA, 1988 Undetectable Firearms Act, 1990 Gun Free School Zones Act, and 1993 Brady Act.
Except those are all concessions from one side.
