It happened at rampart not elk and I said in my first post that a couple blocks makes a difference. That's why the area is so dangerous for drunk tourist....two blocks in the wrong direction and you could be in trouble.

And there's transitional blocks in there where red flags should start going up if walking.
I'm curious to see how this gentrification through there plays out - not just the theatres and condo previously open but multiple major hotels going in that guests would walk through that intersection to reach the FQ (2 Marriott products, a Hilton and a joie de vivre as well as the Jung and whoever buys the clarion that just lost its flag)

To all the "we need to talk openly about race". And the Anti-gun douchebags. Let's see what the homicide statistics would be in New Orleans and Chicago if we passed laws making it illegal for black males to own guns in these cities.

I'll be spending a weekend at the Westin in a few weeks and haven't really walked around N.O. in the past five years or so, what parts of the area should I avoid? Or is it more of a "you'll know it when you see it" situation?

Just stay in the tourist areas. Don't wonder off bourbon st. When it get towards midnight, get off bourbon st. in a cab. Go uptown or go to bed.
