Has anyone here ever personally known someone who worked/works at Waffle House.

If so, what did they have to say about it?

For the record, I have not.

That’s exactly what someone who had worked at Waffle House would say..

They could get healthcare and a hell of a dental plan, according to a waitress I had once.

Only someone with intimate knowledge of WH employees would know this.

Did yall know there is a metric used by FEMA called The Waffle House Index?

quote:

The Waffle House Index is an informal metric used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to determine the effect of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery.

"If you get there and the Waffle House is closed? That's really bad. That's when you go to work."

I knew someone who lasted a week at one. Said hard work, low pay, and shitty customers. It was a second job for them.

Just go apply in person, Gump. It will be a step up from Burger King for you. You desperately need the dental insurance.

I don't know what OP is expecting to get out of this question. Seems pretty obvious what it's like to work there.

About once or twice a week, I walk in to the WH on the Strip and drunkenly destroy an All-Star Special (country ham ftw). I always leave a 50-100% tip because those poor people have to have the worst service industry job in the Western Hemisphere. What kind of situation do you have to be in to work at a 24HR slop joint that is located on the busiest district in a large college town?

My best friend who is a detective is married to the lady who has worked at the same Waffle House in Pensacola for 43 years. She just received an award as longest employee. For the record I think breakfast is ok... the rest sucks.

My niece did for a spell. She did ok as far as serving goes. Quality of customers depends on location

I lived in a halfway house with a guy that worked at IHOP and his girlfriend worked at Waffle House. They both made shite for money. I would come from work at another restaurant and having made $100 a night and be home at 11. He would work until 5 in the morning and make $30. I remember his girlfriend telling me that at Waffle House, the servers have to wash their own dishes. I've never heard of a restaurant where servers do that crap. I think she made ok money, maybe $60-$70 a shift, something like that?
