That’s some bill shite. Walked down magazine this weekend and it’s a ghost town. Talked to a tourist from Dallas and he said he can’t wait to leave because New Orleans is disgusting.
cmon man we all know NO is on a downward spiral but this is just ridiculous.

Crime bleauxs in New Orleans and has even touched Magazine St. at times, but Magazine St. is nowhere close to being a ghost town.

I've seen much worse (though St. Charles Tavern was tough to beat as far as disgusting conditions go). With that said, they served a purpose for a spot to grab food in the middle of the night for many years (not Voodoo). The Tavern was open for over 100 years. Someone bought the Tavern and is opening another Tito's Ceviche there, so I'm sure it will be way nicer than it ever was now.

Name them. And I know restaurants that opened in spots that closed during the pandemic, so you aren’t actually adding to it.
Here are just a handful in the past couple months
New Orleans’s steady stream of restaurant openings, even throughout the pandemic, can make it difficult to keep track of what’s new, what’s cool, and what New Orleans’s top local chefs are cooking. To help, Eater’s heat map tracks the city’s most exciting new restaurants, all of which are worth a try.

God the lengths people will go on TD to make NOLA look bad. You must have been on a different magazine street from the one uptown.

COVID regs killed the St. Charles Tavern, Trolley Stop Cafe and Voodoo BBQ as they all closed during that time. I have noticed an increase in pizza places in that area, so I it may be a combo issue for Slice.
oh no, three shitty restaurants no one ever went to closed!

I don't know what you mean by "old" restaurants opening.

You won’t have to. Chic F La is building a new restaurant on the corner of Tulane and Carrollton.
Right across the parish line from Ole Metairie

First of all, Slice is closing because it wasn’t any good. It served a purpose 20 years ago but many many many better pizza places have opened since then. Go to Zee’s or PD on a weekend. They are packed.

I honestly didn't know it was still open.
That whole stretch from Lee Circle (oh my) to Jackson has been fading fast in the past couple of years, though.

Tito's is opening in St Charles Tavern.
Good for them, but it sucks to lose them at their current spot.

Same losers in this thread defending a crap city.

Seems like the number of restaurants from I-10 to Jackson Ave on St Charles Ave has plummeted
First, St. Charles doesn't run anywhere close to I-10.
Second, this area was never a restaurant hotbed, the only significant closings that were possibly related to COVID/declining area were Delmonico's, Mole (open for less than 1 year so not sure that counts) and maybe Trolley Stop. But even Trolley Stop was mainly due ownership/lease issues and same for Voodoo and Blind Pelican. I would argue there is more quality now (relatively speaking) with Mr. Ed's, the new tavern restaurant, Jack Rose and Bayou Bar, Canes, Lula etc. than there was 5-10 years ago.
