Ole Carl

LINK

quote:

Carl Arredondo, WWL-TV’s chief meteorologist, is retiring after 27 years at the station. His last day is March 1.

He is stepping down at age 55 because of increasingly severe complications from retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disorder that has steadily eroded his peripheral vision. He quit driving more than two years ago, and has in recent months noticed that the condition is affecting his ability to do live broadcasts.

This might be your big break, Alexandra...

WWL used to be one of the most recognizable stations in the city due to their long time on-air personalities. Now, they try way too hard to look updated and progressive. They switched their format a few months back to have their people running around the set with ipads. They've become a low budget college news operation. Fox 8 it is for me.

Felt like WWL-TV also went the way of regularly interviewing the most radicicolous, non-intelligent, mouth-breathing citizens on TV. Not a good look for a station that used to hold themselves to a higher standard.

FIFY. For a long, long time, WWL was the top-rated CBS affiliate in the country.

Belo really started to give up on them after Katrina. However, it really went down the crapper when Gannett bought them out in 2013. They are terrible and barely a step above social media news.

Given the cheapness of their corp owners, this is very possible - they can go back to 3 weatherpeople and give him more responsibility.

The need to just let Alexandra and/or Nussbaum handle the chief meteorologist stuff and move Chris Farley to the weekends and shitty shifts.
