Boom? No. It's more like a series of small farts.
The Labor Force Participation Rate hasn't been this low since Feb. 1977. As such, it's still FAR lower than pre-pandemic levels.
While new jobless claims seem to have levelled out, it's at a level higher than pre-pandemic numbers AND this was during the time of year when part-time work should have been abundant.
The drop in Unemployment numbers, therefore, is largely due to people simply no longer looking for work while living off of Continued Claims which is, of course, still a little higher than pre-pandemic numbers and/or else simply not making new claims.

Yeah it is. Sorry you don't know what the unemployment rate is when the media talks about. There are actually 6 different unemployment rates the BLS uses

Everyone that wants a job has one and there is not a single business I know that has enough people to work.
It’s time to end our welfare state

Honestly I have no patience for anyone who defends this administration after the Afghanistan shite show. Everyone who continues to defend this administration can go frick themselves at this point. I can’t wait for the Ukraine and Taiwan shite storm that is likely to happen this year.

He's referring to the "boom".
Continued Claims, Labor Force Participation Rate, SNAP enrollment, etc... adding those in provides a far greater context to tell the full picture than just looking at U3 (which is the most commonly used one, which denotes only those actively looking for jobs).

Notice under trump the numbers always exceeded expectations but under Biden they always under perform

This is why UBI cannot create a successful economy.

How do you add 50% less jobs than anticipated but still have unemployment drop by 0.2%?
Maybe unemployment is a poor indicator.

It can be a good indicator of the direction of the economy but doesn't give a full picture. It is only new claims... So labor force participation should be factored in. The U-6 number is a current indicator it takes into account the unemployed rather than just new claims, under employed and discouraged workers. It is a better snapshot of the new versus the U-3 which tends to project where we are headed during normal economic times.

The u-6 number is 7.2 versus 11.6 of December 2020.
Just because your friends can't find workers means that he has a business in a shoddy labor market. Isn't paying enough, or has had rapid growth and can't keep up. The entire labor market has changed drastically. I have several friends that started their own businesses during the pandemic. Several that are full time work from home.
Local anecdotal evidence doesn't represent the United States as a whole. Louisiana and Mississippi are shitholes and people are leaving droves just like high tax states Cali, NY, and IL
