It does, but the fact it's not literally every day is a miracle.

Lived there for 12 years and I avoided the interstate unless it was dark out, either early in the AM or late at night. that would be the fastest route home, but if the sun was shining im using any and all side roads. But avoid college drive at all cost, avoid essen at all costs.

Other than that, it was never that bad to get to and from work or school everyday.

Baton Rouge has a history of stupid drivers.

OTOH, they aren’t nearly as aggressive as drivers in any other big or medium sized city.

This. I hate this so much.

Because that position gave them the quickest access to the person trapped inside the vehicle.

You are confused. East bound is completely blocked. That makes sense. And I can even understand one lane West if that's the quickest way a responding vehicle could get there. Two seems excessive. You have 6 lanes there with just 1 flowing for a wreck that takes up two lanes.

It is also for safety of the responding personnel. Having an open lane of traffic next to you and equipment can be dangerous.

How do people consistently get to work in BR?

I changed my work hours to 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. just to avoid the traffic nightmare that is Baton Rouge. Getting to work and leaving an hour early makes a world of difference.

Don't lump Plant IT professionals into that. We can and do often.

I've been in one wreck since graduating LSU. I was commuting on 10west to downtown br.

I was finishing a taco bell breakfast burrito and putting the wrapper back in the bag.
The "stop n go" got me just before the LSU lakes like it does a LOT of commuters.
Ah well.

State police will tell you almost ever wreck is caused because of the driver (occasionally weather). People are not taught how to drive anymore and very few realize how important it is to pay attention and be in control of their vehicle. The recklessness of drivers is amazing and it is never their fault (In their minds)
