Why don’t people just use local/regional banks with high end customer service???

Their General Ledger Account is likely batch balanced. If their system was down and they didn’t reverse on spot then they are probably needing their Reconciliation Team to balance that GL. In your case it wouldn’t hurt putting some pressure on them because I’m not sure how often they balance their different GLs.

Worked at Commercial Bank in NOLA @ 82-83 (summer job)
One teller was keeping the cash deposits. I'll never forget, one day she drove up in a new two-toned Maxima and the very next day the FBI came in the bank and cuffed her. This was the early 80's, so you had to wait until you got a statement to check your account. She made it 6 weeks before they caught her.

Are trash cans in a car a normal thing? I've never heard of this.

I have a small can that sits between the front and back seat on the center hump. I do a lot of work out of my car so its that or having wadded up paper and receipts in the passengers floorboard. Sometimes customers get in the vehicle so its the better option.

I'll never understand why people become enamored with hese huge banks. I've always dealt with small, local banks where I knew most, if not all the tellers and management. With today's technology there is NO advantage to dealing with "super" banks.

I almost added that to my post, where it could make sense if you do a shite ton of driving likely for work purposes.

I had just legit never heard of that and it caught my eye in your post.

Long story short, went to Chase yesterday to get a cashier’s check and their system was supposedly down. Well they debited my account for the amount twice but I didn’t get the cashier’s check. I didn’t realize until after I left the bank that they had debited the money from my account. Went back to the branch and they assured me it would be reversed and that they were just having system maintenance issues. Well, today it still hasn’t been reversed and the amount is over $5k for the check so I’m out over $10k at the moment. I’m going to Chase today but I’m furious about having to deal with this BS. Anybody else dealing with this kind of shite from Chase lately?

I bet the accounting department has it correct and your money is safe and sound and it is simply a system error, obviously what you should do is create as much drama as possible.

The funny part is you think you are going to "deal with it", nobody GAF what you think, your 5 grand is but a drop in the bucket for them on this.

If you weren't being a racist sexist misogynist then Chase Bank wouldn't have to play games !

Several years ago, our mortgage was taken over / bought by Chase. Service issues weren't bad, we have the payment taken out of a checking acount at another bank.

We deided to refinance, and Chase gave us terrible options/rates, so we went with a local mortgage broker.

Three months later, the refinanced loan was purchased by... you know who.

They then sent us a letter... open up a checking account and get like $250. So I did that... I have a small amount ($300) sent there for each paycheck and basically use it to pull cash from a Chase ATM when I'm out of town, or occasionally use the debit card.

I wouldn’t say “no” advantage. They might not outweigh the disadvantages, but there are still some advantages.

I don’t think ATM availability matters nearly as much as it used to, since people don’t use nearly as much cash (so the occasional ATM fee isn’t that big of a deal). However, I think there is something to be said for branch offices. I can think of several times in my life when I’ve needed to withdraw cash beyond my ATM limit while traveling. It is nice to know you can walk into a branch just about anywhere in the country.

That said, I’m still not convinced it’s worth the BS and have been strongly considering moving to a smaller bank for the past couple of years.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I thought Chase had some of the best customer service of any large financial institution. We moved our accounts from them because we didn't like some of their political advocacy, but I never really had a complaint on performance.
