It's not the fellow posters, it's the ~200,000 lurkers, some of whom are spouses, friends, family members, employers, clients, etc. I'm not afraid of some unhinged baw stabbing me in the eye over a WYHI thread, but I don't want a guy I'm trying to do business with have a bawdy story I told be the first thing that comes to mind when he thinks of me. Without the anonymity, this place would be a lot more bland and a lot less interesting.
And I understand that nothing is truly anonymous, but it's good enough for most circumstances.

I'm able to be more free with my opinions on here. Sometimes it comes off too bitchy and judgemental and most of the time...that isn't my intent at all.
I'm sure there are posters and lurkers that read my posts and think I'm the most judgemental bitch ever...but I'm really NOT like that at all IRL. I've developed a tougher skin posting on here(you have to)...but honestly, I'm like most women. More insecure than they should be and have a strong desire to be liked by others.

I post pretty evenly between here, Poli and Movie/TV,
After reviewing your first 5 pages of your history:
OT: 65
F&D: 4
P: 16
MTV: 8
Rant: 1
OB: 8
You sure about that, son?
eta: and it's odd that your first 40 posts were on the rant, but you've only had 40 total since... I wonder why that is...

e.g. Owlie is truly a IRL good dude but gets (and gives) a shitload of smack here. But I would truly feel bad if something I posted hurt his feels. That goes for about 98% of the rest of you all and towards the remaining 2% I'm ambivalent.
I'm good at what I do and as well in my personal world. In my life I'm a golden rule guy but any shite or smack I might throw here is all in jest.

Does the term "try-hard" mean anything to you? You're playing a part that you think you're meant to play based on opinions of people here who don't *really* know you... I'm not fricking with you either, I'm just asking you to think critically about how/what you post here. I doubt you're as big a fool as you play on TV.

When people's anonymity is unintentionally exposed is pretty golden.

I have to be honest.

Holy wall of text!
I signed up on here looking for tickets on the ticket exchange originally, had lurked a little before that, though, but also mostly on TR and TE. If you look at my screen name you will see that it was not long enough to figure out the anonymity concept
I assume part of your ease at this point revolves around the fact that you've grown more comfortable in your own skin as you've gotten older. Good for you on that, hopefully others will do the same.

I found it hilarious that you typed out 30 paragraphs and still wrote IRL instead of in real life
Posted on 5/7/16 at 7:03 am to yankeeundercover
I have other boards where I've met/befriended dozens of people IRL over the years and post pics with abandon. The vibe is different here. There's a lot of attention that comes with losing anonymity, especially for women. It is mildly terrifying to see it explode.

Yankeeundercover is just trying to lure y'all out. He's an axe murderer. He's axe murdered me, six...seven times now?
Fool me once, shame on me.
Fool me a half dozen more times, shame on rye with peanut butter.
