Anonymity & TD OT

Now I'm going to preface this with this statement. I'm rather drunk.

I remember when I was in college at LSU and TD (and moreso th OT) was, for some reason, a "thing" in my life... I feel like the moment I graduated and started my life outside of the institutional walls of the school... I no longer cared who knew who I was...

This isn't a cry to "unveil yee'selves!", but moreso a challenge of purpose for what reason is it such a blasphemy to leak identity?

I don't beleieve anyonr here is truly malicious.

I think that even the snarkiest of assholes, if met in eprson would be rather chill, probably pretty tolerable. I've met a handful of people both purposefully and accidentally and haven't ever thought, "Wow, this dickhead is exactly the dickhead he is on the board"

I wonder wha t it is about this damn board that amakes peole so skeptical and/or fearful about fellow posters.

I know I was insanely concerned about my identity years ago... but now, frankly, I don't really give a damn.

I've posted my picture on numerous occaisions and have nothing to hide.. and I'm not calling for a mass public broadcast of who you really are, but I suspect that a lot of youu snarky "posters", wouldn't be so shitty to someone's face... And we all just laughingly joke it off when someone get's "internet tough" and spouts off at the mouth something like, "FLAGPOLE!!!11!1! 20 MINUTES!!!11!" and we all just mock and post memes because we're trying to get 'board cred'...

And those who think that they're just here posting because they're trying to participate or read? Are full of shite. A LOT of drama happens on this board and I feel like it's a self-perpetuating reality TV show... why in the world do you think there's SOOOO many lurkers, 24/7? We're the cast members of one of the most boring shows ever... but we build ourselves up; and the more 'mysterious' and 'unknown' you are, the 'cooler' you are....

Admit it. Think critically about what I'm saying before lauching the barrage.

And yet you'll jump in here and be shitty to me for this post, and claim you're above it all, and miss the point I'm trying to make...

I'm merely asking why do you think, that while most of us have Facebook, Google+, etc. and post our lives to people which we give consent, do posters hide behind a username here?

I'm sure there's some 'psychological phenomenon' or 'mindset' that one enters and considers it "freeing" to speak without fear of being in ill repute.

Have you ever asked yourself, "do you think you're as shitty of a person that your username here leads people to believe/?"

I know that I'm not nearly as shitty as some of you belive me to be... and there's plenty of people here who know me IRL who probably think I'm a prick, but at least that's founded, and based on legitiamacy..

I don't know.. I digrees back to my first statement.

eta: this whole thread started because someone in the frist few replies to the "Middle name" thread said, "I go by my middle name, so I can't post it" as if anyone *REALLY* gives a shite who anyone is.. again, none of you are dangerous/malicious
