Not a one here on Perkins near Highland.

Some years it's really bad. Maybe it's yet to come. I self-treated last year, so no worries.

how are you dealing with this besides turning off the lights at night?

To keep swarming termites away from your home, turn off all exterior lights, close windows and doors, and use a vacuum to remove termites that have already entered. During a swarm (most common in spring), turn off indoor lights that are visible from the outside to reduce their attraction to your property.

Roofs were covered in wings this morning in Folsom, including my house. My lights (indoor and outdoor) were all off and I still had some make their way in. Stressful af.

I wonder if they evolved into different broods like the cicadas. One week is this brood and another week is another brood.

Or they are triggered by weather patterns. It was a few weeks if not months since this area had a lot of rain. These suckers like damp and moist conditions.

Our resident entomologists or etymologists can chime in.

I posted this in another thread a few weeks ago:

quote:

Some tips for those trying to limit the home invasion:

1. Turn out lights. Learn to embrace darkness.

2. If your neighbor is out of town, break into his house and turn all his lights on to draw them away from your house.

3. This one I tried last night and it seemed effective. Turn on all your bathroom vents and let em run until at least midnight or so. The swarmers usually get into your attic pretty easily with all the vents and crap in the roof. Once in there, they'll climb through light fixtures and bathroom vents to get into the living spaces. But they're not strong flyers or crawlers, so sending airflow back the other way will help repel them. I felt like I found less in my bathrooms than usual.

And as others have said, you can try putting some painters tape on your window gaps and at the bottom of your doors. This just feels like so much hassle tho, especially if the swarming season is almost done at this point. Had I known last night was going to be so bad, I might have tried this.

This and they hate the cold. We have been dealing with them on the coast for a couple of weeks now. I set my AC down to 66-67 and if they get in my house they aren't flying around.

I didnt know the Formosean termites had gotten this far north. Guess they followed the Mediterranean geckos from south La
