Does anyone else find it annoying that when first-year students go off to college and then come back for break, long weekend, holidays, etc. they act high and mighty about their school/town? I have three kids and my youngest is in his first year at the University of Illinois. I told him to get ready for this. My middle son had some friends who went off to different schools (Pace University, Swarthmore, Wisconsin, etc) and all came back with similar braggart like mentalities. My oldest vouched as well.

Typically, it faded away -- as did some of the friendships, but the first couple of years were nauseating.

You kinda sound insecure about never going to college.

For most of them, it's their first time experiencing living in a new place, and they're excited about it.

Calm down grandpa.

It's always so hard for those without college educations to understand. The kid is on his way to being better than you, a feeling of accomplishment is normal.

Let me put this in terms you can understand. You know how one monster truck is always bigger and better than the other monster trucks? Well he went from being a small truck to a big truck, so you should respect him like the big truck he is. Got it?

Yeah and I did the same thing. Getting to live alone without your parents up your arse is a great feeling for an immature 18 year old.

Now, go yell at the kids on your lawn, grandpa.

I understand what you are referring to, but out of all the things to worry about in life, this isn't one of them.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.

I always enjoyed when the high and mighty rich girls came back home talking shite about how they went to (enter bullshite small southern private college).

It took them about 10$ worth of cheap vodka and cranberry juice to forget all about their new bf Geoffrey Wentworth III and beg me to pull her hair while I bent her over the moving box I used as a kitchen table.
