yep god forbid...we set a good example for our children and be into exercising and staying strong and healthy

im sure that makes me a terrible parent and a douche compared to the typical fat guy of the OT who leaves his kid at home every weekend to go fishing and get black out drunk at the camp

Working out doesn't make you a better person.

You are the poster child of overcompensating in this thread.

Right. I’m sure a kid would love knowing adults are all making fun of his name

“Hey kid relax your name is stupid as frick but we are making fun of your parent not you”

calling others dumbasses, poor, etc

i called 1 that. because he was being a dumbass and i was making fun of him because he said everyone that allows their kid to play travel ball is a dumbass who is unintelligent and poor

There's no getting back on the right side of the argument. You've lost

lost what? that you dont like me? who cares

i am right that if your kid wants to play high school baseball at any school worth a shite, than he better be playing travel

i am right that 99% of the crap yall say about travel is 100% wrong

i am right about how much it cost and there are different levels

i am right that it doesnt make you a muscle bound douche because you lift weights and your kid plays travel ball

i am right that you should push your kids to be the best they can be in whatever their passion is

no but it does mean im setting a better example when it comes to health

the insane amount of time i spend with my kids and family make me a good parent

and i didnt overcompensate at all

1) i was trying to get some to understand not every parent is living through their kid just because the kid plays travel

2) it doesnt cost what many on here claim and some people can afford things others cant. is it a waste of money...matter of opinion. i think a guided fishing and expensive hunting trips are a waste of money but the posters on the outdoor board think its perfectly acceptable

why is almost exclusively the ones who have never been around travel or those that got cut making fun of it on the ot

As a youth sports official that does travel and high level youth games, this is a major part of the problem. Way too many kids are paying to play travel ball that have no business doing so. They’re hopelessly overmatched and get a really bad experience.

He's fricking 6.

You are definitely one of "those" parents.

You are generalizing by that last statement that this is the only area i push him to work hard in.

The foundation of both my kids entire life is to work hard. If something is easy, then they aren't being challenged enough. Life is freaking hard bro, the sooner they learn how to deal with hard shite, the better off they will be.

I wish I wouldve had a parent with that mentality, but I didnt and I paid for it later. Once I figured out how to go Goggins mode and do hard shite, my life improved dramatically. I started getting promotions, made more money, became a better father, better husband, you name it, I became better.

So if that makes me one of "those" parents, then I am proud to be one.

quesiton for the BAWS of the OT.....how come its ok to spend 2k on a duck lease, 1k on deer lease and take an out of state trip hunting that cost 3-4k but not ok to spend 2k on travel baseball for your kid?

PREEEACH

except you got the $$$ wrong, many people are paying wayyyy more than that now, especially since lousiana duck hunting has gone to shite in the past half decade.

Every single one of my friends that have the bad arse hunting spots talk shite to me about kids sports. While they are away from their wives and family for weeks at a time chasing ducks or hunting the rut state to state.

Don't get me wrong, I wanna do all that shite too because I love it, but in my mind your kids only think you are cool for about 10 years or so. Might as well soak up following them doing what they love. The hunting and fishing will come back and be even better because they will be old enough to really understand the meaning of it and enjoy the quality time with you.

I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about a hitting camp in Destin while on vacation…

The real problem is the ghetto jang a lang rec leagues. My oldest played. He’s in high school now. Had he not played tourney ball, he would t have made his team. No rec kids made it. We limited it from Feb. to mid June.

My youngest is 10. Same thing. Feb to mid June. As a matter of fact, we have already stopped for the year. Time to get on the boat and fish.

I'm doing it all this year.

Wrapping up year 2 of travel ball with a WS in July.
Going elk/bear/mule deer hunting in Colorado.
Plus my regular rifle/bow hunting at the deer lease.

My son knows way more at 8 years about situational baseball than I did. His coach preaches that he is enjoys winning but his goal is to have these kids fundamentally sound to make their high school baseball team. He knows very few will go on to college baseball.

OMG, I’m so grateful that my Son lost interest in baseball a few years ago & wanted to try multiple sports. All of which are more exciting than never-ending baseball. My Son’s poor friend plays for a travel team almost year round. I feel bad for that kid.

I know people here in Oklahoma that work full time and take their kid to a travel ball league in Plano. That's a 2 hour one-way drive. Every single bit of their existence revolves around getting to Plano for practices

On second thought, probably better to keep him involved in sports. A white collar job is not in his future.

Do I not remember what kids are doing at six years old correctly?

He's six and it's the end of the school year. He just finished first grade, right?
