Being in medical field....
During my med rotations, I served in ENT. Daily, we did laser ablation in the mouth and throat of HPV growth. Ages were from 17-50.
This was before the vaccine.
Don't forget, this is how Patrick Swazye died. He had esophageal cancer from hpv....
So, it's legit. And I believe the vaccine is legit as well.

I thought he died of pancreatic cancer caused by smoking.

I think Swazye did die from pancreatic cancer. Not sure if smoking was direct cause, but I am sure it didn’t help.

Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer are and were the actors with throat/neck cancers.

Esophageal not thought of as HPV related.

Most common are cervical, head and neck, anal, and vulvar. Vaginal and penile also HPV related but rare cancers.

The reason why anal cancer rates are increasing among older women remains unclear, but Robinson has a theory. “Most older women were beyond the recommended age for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination when it first became widely available,” she explained.

Serious question- not trolling. Was anal cancer an issue before the HPV vaccine? I had honestly never heard of it until there was a vaccine to reduce the incidence of if. I’m not saying don’t get the vaccine- both of my kids have had it, so I’m definitely a believer, I had just beer heard of a al cancer before a few years ago. Maybe people just aren’t taking about it.

It was an issue but a relatively rare cancer.

I know that the HPV vaccine is about as close to 100% effective as can be reasonably proven.

But by all means, you all keep debating it til the end of time.
Well Don Quixote, by all means then, keep charging windmills. It seems neither of the posters you've attacked in this subthread share an opinion significantly different than your own.

I would just point out that as an educational precept, as with any vax, Gardasil is only reliably effective against the strains it targets. There are about 100 HPV strains. Gardasil protects against the two most common, along with the 7 most dangerous varieties. Those 9 strains, in total, account for about 90% of all genital warts, and about 80% of cervical cancers.

So I’ve read good and bad for hpv vax.

What is the board’s opinion about it?

It is protective , but not a panacea. Unfortunately, there are some who receive it, then act more recklessly than before because now they "are protected." Amongst some teens, that perception of sexual protection somehow extends to HIV and herpes. So Gardasil + the pill = invincible.

As posted above, Gardasil protects against about 9 out of 10 HPV infections and about 8 out of 10 Cx Cancers. To state the obvious, it conveys zero protection against HIV/herpes/GC/Chlamydia/the Pox, etc.

Would you agree that it very close to 100% effective against the strains it targets?

While y’all are in here discussing vax and seem to be a little educated on the matter.

What’s the deal with hospital and pediatrician pushing Hep B vaccines on new borns these days. I’ve never in my life heard of a kid having to worry about Hep B. Am I getting my Hepatitis’ confused?

And since you're a physician, would you also agree that there is essentially no debate or hesitation in the medical community about the prescribing of this medication when the patient meets the proper parameters?
