I think -- OT style with no actual research aside from a few examples I know -- that this is the common reason women do it.
They either had bad HS experience OR they loved it but now over glamorize it as the "best years of my life" without moving on and doing better things like healthy adults.
It's not just the extreme examples of affairs, nude photos or parties with kids but lots of people that simply don't mature into enjoying being an adult.
If HS years were the best, or potentially best, of anyone's life -- no matter how fun they were -- they're making some very bad life decisions after HS.
