An oil change at the Mercedes dealership nowadays will basically cost you five hundy.
When you’re the only game in town
1. "Oil changes" on German cars are never just oil changes. The problems people often have shortly after the warranty ends are a result of deferred maintenance. Many people that buy new luxury cars often don't keep them long past the warranty ends so they get away with deferred maintenance. 2nd and 3rd buyers are even more lokely to defer maintenance and see the big repair bills.
2. It is very unlikely NOLA does not have a good indy Mercedes repair shop. Though they are not cheap they are usually significantly cheaper then the stealership. The trustworthy ones will help you avoid skipping maintenance that is needed and let you slide on that which is not crucial. It is a matter of getting to know and trust them. I love German cars and outside of freebies and warranty issues my cars never see the dealership instead they go to trusted indy shops.
3. I enjoy doing most of my routine maintenance but that isn't for everyone.

Get an American made Tesla and don’t worry about oil changes
Incorrect - Tesla recommends changing the front and rear drive oil at 50k miles. Same for the transmission.

I had to change my auxiliary battery last week. It's under the fuse box. Who thought that was a good idea? It is for the auto start stop. I thought about making that obsolete but went ahead and changed both batteries

If you can't afford it, don't drive one

Independent shop, certified Mercedes Mechanic, in Slidell charges $150 for either the A or B service.
Front brakes were $1K for the earlier reference. AMG rotors & pads.

Take that bad boy to Firestone and get you some tender loving Pennzoil for less than $100.

Just say Five Hundred

I paid $750 for the last A service and $1300 for the last B service. I change the oil in my own cars for $60 each so going to the Merc dealer is never a good experience.

Tesla's don't have a transmission either

They must have done more than just the A or B service. I think Mercedes of Covington charged me a little over $200 for an A service the last time I had them do it.

We have 4 cars, ranging in model years '72 to 12' and can't imagine not changing your own oil. The internet is full of useful DIY videos.

Dang, and that was only like 2 hours of a deposition telling the mechanic he’s not really hurt.

You realize you dont have to go to dealership for oil change right?
Admitting you pay a half grand for an oil change? No, that's more like a cry for help.

Okay Einstein, no need to show off your super high IQ. We’re not all rocket scientists here.
