But, I don't see how any interpretation of the double slit experiment can follow through with the idea of a deterministic universe. It really isn't; the fabric of this universe is stochastic.
Wild speculation, but what if the quantum that is supposedly passing through both slits at that same time are actually two separate quanta with one coming in and out of existence during a brief moment?
Again, speculative, but would that not be a deterministic recontextualization of quantum mechanics if ever demonstrated?

The ramifications of the double slit experiment basically show we don't live in a deterministic universe, at least not at quantum scales. We still haven't completely grappled with the ramifications of that. So, the equation you are talking about can't exist outside of giving probabilities of a certain configuration, and the best model we have at these length scales is Schrodinger's equation. For the macro scale, the Einstein Field Equations associated with general relativity is the broadest and best model we currently have, although obviously it fails at quantum scales and doesn't have a great physical justification for the terms in it we use to model the acceleration of the expanding universe.
You are trying oh so hard to sound smart

I suppose it beats trying oh so hard to sound foolish

If Homer can predict the mass of the Higgs boson more than a decade before it was even proven to exist he is the man to develop your equation.

More impressively, Homer states at the bottom that he can prove that tori and spheres are homomorphic.

assume the universe will ultimately prove to be deterministic
There are people in this world that make choices that hurt everyone including themselves.
The universe is most assuredly not deterministic.

That's like there being an equation that will make my penis 1 foot long.
You would have to know the exact placement, state, and motions of all matter in the universe to even begin to think about pulling that off. The computer would be bigger than the universe itself.
Then you've got quantum mechanics throwing all sorts of wrenches in it with branching timelines.

I'd be really fascinated by this thread if one of you could explain it to me like I'm 5

quote:Data compression just saves memory at the expense of additional compute time, right? I'm not sure there are any free lunches here.
Data compression and matrices operations could cut down on the raw computational necessities.
quote:Sounds like the universe we live in, eh? What kinda hardware do you think our simulation is running on?
But as soon as you start rounding digits in your initial conditions, your models become prone to chaotic variations.
