He might not be breaking any laws. If it gets out that he has this recorded and had the opportunity to warn sitter before recording more, well I think it could get complicated for him. Catch 22 imo.

Best course of action may be to kind of play dumb and mention he saw a male approaching the house from the outside cameras and just wanted to ensure she was safe, though he should have done that right away.

You should have let her know before leaving her in your house that there are cameras and you'll be checking them.

Had a less messy, similar situation years ago with a mild-mannered local housewife in her 40's who surfed surprisingly nasty adult websites on our home PC's while housesitting.
Found out after-the-fact when URLs I entered for SEC Edgar reports kept autocompleting to SEX.
Learned a valuable lesson about password-protecting every home PC.
And of course never we hired her again.

I’ve actually thought about that before. There’s plenty of folks here who post very specific stories about family, neighbors, coworkers, etc.
For some instances, if any of these folks happen to read tigerdroppings, that could be a real issue for the OP.
