I had the same issue and ended up going with a heat lamp bulb. It was incandescent but overkill at 250W and would've been nice to find a readily available 100W incandescent.

I am big fan of LED, but there are one offs like this which is why the ban lift was a good thing.

Went to Home Depot on monday and couldnt' find a nice hot arse incadenscent bulb in the store. Wanted to use it to heat my small closet attached to my carport where i wanted to put all my plants instead of bringing them inside.

Serious question, are there any factories that still make these?

They sell 250 watt halogen work lights that heat up nicely.

Uhhh, yes. This entire thread centers around the ability to now choose. Its literally in the title of the thread.

I've been in our home since summer of '19. Haven't replaced a single bulb yet.

I put new LED inserts in my living room when I bought the house in 2021. I just replaced one last week. It was weak and flickering.

Brand/watts that you use? Same for anyone in the thread touting life of LED bulbs.

I actually like the LED lightbulbs. They stay cooler and they save you money in the long run and they’re brighter than incandescent bulbs

They also don't emit light that causes paint on collectibles to fade.

This. Our house was built during the Obama era and I’m so damn sick of my house being dark. I can’t see shite at night under these lights. It’s time to update the lighting in our home and now I’m just going to wait until incandescent fixtures are available again.

The "lifespan" of LED and CFL (fluorescent) bulbs is not based upon testing for each bulb brand, type or style. Those lifespans were determined by testing bulbs made with high quality materials and manufacturing and perfect, controlled conditions. This quality and condition is not typical use. The lifespan for CFL bulbs available commercially (walmart, amazon etc.) is shown to be around 30%, and 50% for LED, of the stated expected lifespan.

Both are definitely more efficient, but according to studies, and my personal experience, they do not outlast the old quality GE or Westinghouse incandescent bulbs.

Given the choice, I prefer LED bulbs over incandescent most of the time.

GE, Phillips, Sylvania, store brand...doesn't matter. none last very long.
I'm talking A19 size, (standard "bulb")
I've got HD store brand R30's that I'm keeping up with long term to see what lifespan I get. Also bought some GE wafer inserts for a porch.

I feel like I’ve replaced 20 in my living room alone. I guess the homedepot near my house only carries cheap-arse ones. I don’t like them as much as I thought.
