just so we are clear, you can feel that his gun control laws are an infringement of the 2nd amendment while also accepting that he is not calling for forceful confiscation

People are ignorant. I am all for guns, but I am also for any type of law that would prevent someone with know mental conditions from being able to purchase a gun.

I was listening to the podcast Real Life Real Crime and there was a situation in which a woman was divorcing her abusive husband. He was stalking and threatening her. She got a restraining order, a week later he went to a pawn shop, bought a gun, put two bullets in. Shot her.

He wasn't supposed to be able to buy a gun having a restraining order on him, but a week later it still wasn't in the system. I am for something that would go into the system right away so that people will be flagged immediately. Its just being responsible.

I remember when Obama got elected in his first term, I worked with some people who went out the day after and bought a gun, boxes of ammo and were planning on going buy another gun because they thought for sure that he was going to ban guns (I also worked near a woman who was talking to a friend on the phone that morning before most people got to work and she told the person that her husband told her "we better get ready, in a few years this country will look more like Russia than the United States. They will take away everyone's property and divide it up, but that's besides the point).

The government isn't trying to take people's guns away because if they did, it wouldn't be easy and there would be a lot of blood shed.. But gun companies, lobbyist, etc wants everyone to think that the government wants to take everyone's gun away.

This is government problem, not a gun problem.

I can give you an example of a woman that has a restraining order against an ex and he would not obey it. The woman went to buy a gun for protection and the purchase was delayed, for "safety purposes". Before she could get the firearm that she had legally purchased the ex killed her.

Are Democrat leaders calling for gun control or not? Yes or no question. We don't need a bunch of bullshite that doesn't even really say anything. Are they calling for gun control or not?

They've been calling for gun control for a century, but that wasn't what sparked the debate in this thread.

Confiscation sparked the debate, and that has never happened and will not happen en masse.

I refuse to get all worked up over a campaign website claim.

You do understand this man isn’t supported on a national level by his party right? This is the equivalent to Uncle Rico saying his plan is to give every family an AR...not going to happen.

So 30% of the original democratic candidates talk about gun confiscation and you idiots don’t think it’s a mainstream idea? Good lord.

Ok. that's all we need to feel the threat. If you dont want their rhetoric mobilizing 2A supporters I suggest you contact them and vent your frustrations to the source.

How many of them are currently candidates?

I've seen Beto O'Rourke talked about more in this thread than I've seen talked about on news shows this entire year.

he is a politician, is he not? He WAS running for the president of the US, was he not? He did debate other candidates, did he not?

So if you want to play the game of semantics. here is a comprehensive list. LINK

quote:

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., has carved out one of the most ambitious paths in the gun policy debate ahead of 2020 -- a plan he calls "the most comprehensive gun violence prevention plan of any candidate for president in decades." Booker's policy, announced in May, would require all gun owners to acquire a license through the federal government.
And Hitler at first just made jews wear a gold star.

quote:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., former Obama administration Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke to echo their support for a national gun licensing program or include it in their own policy announcements.
Warren, Castro, Buttigieg, and O'Dork want this too.

quote:

former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. Biden, who authored the 1994 assault weapons ban, is in favor of universal background checks and renewing a ban on assault weapons.

quote:

In her presidential plan, Warren echoed Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., in pledging to act on gun control within her first 100 days through executive action.

Harris, who announced her plan in April, said she would also require near-universal background checks to be run by people selling more than five guns in a year and revoke the licenses of gun manufacturers and dealers that break the law. She has also talked about renewing the 1994 law that banned assault weapons but expired in 2004 -- an idea with near universal support among Democratic candidates.

WTF.....Have any of these liberals gone to buy a gun lately? Background checks were mandated in 1993.
quote:

Mandated by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (Brady Act) of 1993, Public Law 103-159, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) was established for Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to contact by telephone, or other electronic means, for information to be supplied immediately on whether the transfer of a firearm would be in violation of Section 922 (g) or (n) of Title 18, United States Code, or state law.

He was a House Rep until this year, and the only reason he isn't still is because he ran for Senate.
