You probably shouldn't have a strong opinion on guns.

The weight, velocity and energy have everything to do with the damage it can cause

They should be made available. The point of 2a is to protect from a tyrannical government. You should read Antonin Scalia's opinion on Heller.

Yep. A S&W500 is one of the few pistol rounds that I'd trust around brown bear.

Is there any type of gun...let's just say, up through the biggest guns the military uses (so I don't frick it up) that you think should be off limits to the public to purchase?

What is the biggest gun the military uses? What is the size of the gun that is used by the overwhelming number of the military's personnel?

Even someone with a cursory education on firearms in this country should easily be able to answer this simple question.

US Supreme Court has already ruled that the type of weapons protected by the 2nd Amendment are those suitable for military purposes. That was back in 1939 too.

Just accept the fact that you are very poorly educated and are unable to understand that US military small arms do not have any difference in "power, range, capacity, size, ect..." that civilian small arms because they use the SAME frickING CARTRIDGES. You are such a colossal dolt that you do not even grasp the fact that mil-spec ammunition doesn't have any peculiar performance enhancements over what you can buy in a Walmart. GI 5.56x45mm or 7.62x51mm isn't special, it's mass produced to achieve a minimum performance spec, one that is exceeded by most hunting-specific versions sold all over the world. Armor piercing ammo is rare even in the military, we simply don't train with or issue the stuff and solid copper bullets common in civilian hunting cartridges can often exceed the penetration characteristics of something like M995 AP, simply due to other terminal performance enhancements. It's also very expensive, M855 is $0.12/round while AP stuff is close to $2/round. Asking to ban it is just demonstrating you have no idea what you are talking about and also failed grade school physical science classes.

Liberals think they are going to confiscate the guns

no they don't

How can you be so ignorant?

It’s extremely dangerous how uninformed you are regarding how approximately four million percent of the dem presidential candidates want to take away multiple of our constitutional rights: to bear arms, to free speech (inventing “hate speech” to fine or jail meanie heads), religious freedom (taking tax exempt status from religious institutions that don’t affirmatively support gayness and the gay community)—not to mention taking away the electoral college.

How many militias formed to fight back against gun confiscation after Katrina in New Orleans?

None.

You mean isolated incidents scattered throughout an entire city that 80% of its residents had evacuated out of, carried out by a hodgepodge of different law enforcement agencies from all over the country, with a category 5 hurricane looming in the Gulf?

No.

No militias were formed in that specific instance.

Let's play a little hypothetical.

Let's say tomorrow, the police chief of the city of Dallas announces in a press conference that his department has consulted with the FBI and has reviewed their databases on gun purchases for the last 20 years and that they will begin a house to house firearm retrieval program and that nobody will be armed in the city of Dallas.

What do you think happens next?

Do you really think that people arent going to block off streets to their neighborhoods and stand in unison?

SJWs all over the country shut down entire downtown's when somebody makes an off-color joke on Twitter or the whip cream in thier Starbucks lattes are too white. But no, conservatives are just going to roll over and let the government disarm them.

Quiet, decent, hardworking people are the backbone of this country. They built it. What the government does is done with their nod of approval. The loud mouths you see in the streets and on social media have no real power. It's the unseen masses that move the needle. They are the proverbial sleeping giant. You want to pull the pillow out from under their head? Try to take away their only tool for keeping the government in check and answering to them.

The people are the militia. So done.

And with that I also assume you want an end to a standing army. Cause the FF didn’t want that.

Agreed, and while they didn’t want it, I haven’t heard a constitutional argument against it.

Do you have one?

you getting defensive and scrapping the barrel to act like democrats have wide scale support for the confiscation of all the guns in this country even when that isnt true

Did Beto not win 48% of the vote in historically red Texas? Granted, Cruz is not popular among moderates, and Beto had less extreme statements around gun control a year ago, but my inclination is he would likely come close to the high 40s again in Texas even with his more extreme views. You guys in this thread are a) willfully ignoring the concept of an Overton window in politics and are b) not considering the fact that gun confiscation hasn't happened in other western countries.

Also if you think gun confiscation is why Beto and others have floundered in the democratic primaries, you are ignorant. Warren supports a ban on assault weapons and is one of the frontrunners.

According to the FBI, over 200,000 background check requests associated with the purchase of a firearm were submitted to the agency on Black Friday

And that number is below true purchases. As a concealed carry holder, you can skip the background check, if store policy allows.
