Pickpockets are a problem all over Europe. You have to keep your eyes peeled for these little thieving street urchins, make sure your purses and wallets are secure. The wife and I have had run-ins with them before. A couple of adolescent boy thieves in training approached us like we were easy marks. We surprised the shite out of them instead and they ran off.

During the Paris Olympics, there were reports of American tourists beating up pickpockets while the Europeans generally saw pickpocketing as a normal occurrence

Side note: I don't know why police don't (or aren't allowed to) grab women's hair to easily gain control during combative resisting arrest situations.
I mean, I see them on bodycam use significant force to attempt to handcuff women all the time: tasers, face-plant-takedowns, wrist-locks, elbow-locks, pulling/dragging limbs from a car-to-cement, kneeling on backs, etc...and yet a cop will still struggle mightily to get a 105 lbs teen's wrists cuffed behind their back. It never fails, 2 to 3 cops are needed to cuff a determined non-compliant raging resister, no matter how tiny she is.
Ponytail control would be an equally effective option to help enforce compliance, and seemingly less invasive than say, a taser.

“Gypsies”
Gypsies are world class pickpockets.
When I was on Navy Shore Patrol in Rota Spain the municipal police called for us to transport a Gypsy they had arrested to the jail.(Rota police didn’t have cars then)
So we load him up with a uniformed cop and a plainclothes cop and go the jail.
When we get there they go through his pockets and frisk him and damned if he didn’t have the plainclothes cop’s wallet stuck down the front of his pants.
The plainclothes cop took the uniformed cops billy club and beat the ever loving shite out of the gypsy.
Gypsies are world class pickpockets.

I wasn't one of the down votes, but I sort of understand the sentiment. It was an in your face anti-American song from a Canadian band. Sort of wild it was so popular here, people never pay attention, I guess
