Yep! and the airline doesn't want to have to reimburse the customers for canceled/rescheduled flights, or lose the revenue when the customers just go down the terminal and book with another airline. Criminal

ull told the local news outlet that the flight to JFK originally boarded at 1:40 p.m., but the airline later told passengers to leave the plane at 3:50 p.m. They then boarded another aircraft at 4:30 p.m., which eventually left for JFK at 7:30 p.m.
so they werent on one plane for 6 hours.
No, but it sure seems like it would suck sitting in one for an hour and 50 minutes, only to deplane and get onto another one and sit on it for three hours. The headline may be dumb (since it wasn't six solid hours on one plane), but that situation still sucks for the passengers and should not have happened IMO.

I grew up in deep south Louisiana and we couldn't afford an AC for 10 years of my childhood, they'll live.

the obvious solution is for everyone to buy their own plane and hire their own crew.

Sat on a runway? I doubt that happened. Sat on the ramp is more likely.

I'm just grateful to have been separated by a cockpit door for all these years, I'd hate to have everyone see me crying like a baby

Yep, this should be what happens after 30 minutes of waiting. Every time.
The problem, is that the airlines/airports are built to operate at maximum efficiency, for the most part. Not many unused gates. Well, the plandemic, biden bucks, and the government mandated freezing of the economy completely fricked with people's will to work. Now, we have an ever increasing entitled youths who think they deserve x amount of pay, despite having no skills, no experience, and no work ethic. Those are the people we are relying on to fill some of these manual labor positions. This generation, however, doesn't want to do manual labor, but expect to be paid more than the grounds crew at an airport.
So you take the government shutting down the country for months. Then you take the government paying people to stay home. Add that to a spoiled generation of entitled twats. Now you have people who won't work, because they are expecting handouts for sitting on their arse. They see government trying to forgive loans for no reason other than vote buying. Where is the incentive? There is none. As been told for decades, this form of socialism/government welfare always results in recession.
And, this isn't only at the airlines. Every ancillary business that works with the airlines. Every business and industry in general are having the same issues. We still have YEARS of this before the economy can recover, and people going work is the norm. But, as long as you keep voting for the Biden's of the world, it just delays the rebound.
In the meantime, we get thread after thread of kids fresh out of school bitching because they can't afford a 400k house.

At some point, someone should have dialed 911 and reported a hostage situation.

this is what i'm saying.
i'm not even defending the airline. i'm sure this situation sucked but, "sobbing", "mental breakdowns"? gimme a frickin break.

it helps if the crew keeps them informed and updated during these delays

these passengers would never have made it on TWA 847, we just need a better class of passengers these days!

Yeh APU was started after pushback for air. Engine start about 15 minutes after.
Just no APU at the gate (didn’t hear it running) and no air flowing thru cabin.
So if we were on ground external power we didn’t have the A/C plugged in. Don’t think my small local airport has that capability anyway lol

We had to do it for a similar amount of time back when they were being mask nazis.
this would make it 10x worse. no air and having to wear a mask would be ridiculous.

Bro you should be grateful that the airlines are letting you pay $600 to sit on the tarmac for 3 hours at a time. Like don't you realize how entitled you sound expecting them to get you somewhere in a timely manner? If you don't like it why don't you start your own airline
