An American Airlines passenger jet traveling from Cincinnati to Phoenix encountered an apparent UFO over northeastern New Mexico Sunday afternoon. The pilot on flight 2292 radioed around 1:00 p.m. CST and said that the unidentified object was flying right on top of them, according to a transmission recorded by Steve Douglass on his blog, Deep Black Horizon. American Airlines verified to Fox News that the transmission is from flight 2292. "Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us," the pilot said in the radio transmission.

I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing moving really fast. It went right over the top of us." American Airlines confirmed that the radio transmission is authentic, but did not give any further comment on the possible alien encounter.

"Following a debrief with our Flight Crew and additional information received, we can confirm this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on Feb. 21," an American Airlines spokesperson told Fox News in a statement. "For any additional questions on this, we encourage you to reach out to the FBI." The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday. Flight 2292 was around 37,000 feet at the time of the sighting, and Albuquerque Center did not respond because local air traffic interfered, according to Douglass. The flight went on to land in Phoenix, Arizona.

Why would it be aliens and not some enemy capable of being somewhere and doing something we can't believe or don't want to let regular people know about.

Or just our own capabilities that we want to keep secret for now.

Flying over New Mexico it was probably some military stuff

Good thing they didn't blow the plane up if they accidentally launched a missile.

We already blew up TWA flight 800 25 years ago.

You do know a UFO can be non-alien, right?

I doubt it. If you could fly across the galaxy, you likely are looking for resources and the pesky natives would just be in the way.

Damn Tic Tacs. I’m convinced the military has some top secret aircraft powered by technology ridiculously advanced. Declassification of this would likely mean announcing proof of extraterrestrial reverse engineering.

Can we pause for a moment to admire the phenomenon that was Will Smith in the late 90s? I was trying to explain to my nine year old how, at any given time in 1997, you could flip through the radio and find MiB playing on at least one station. And then he followed it up with Wild Wild West. And that movie was terrible, but that damn song just was everywhere.

You could argue Will Smith might own the last two phenomenon songs ever.

Sounds like White Sands forgot about the commercial airliner flying in their airspace at the time and the plane was almost an unintended target for a missile.

if they could fly across the galaxy its equally reasonable there would be no need resources from earth. there metric shitloads of planets that would probably have more favorable resource profiles. If life occurs outside of earth, long enough ago to develop galaxy travel, it is just as likely based off of different compound profiles.
