What I wonder is when all these corporations replace people with robots and most people no longer have jobs, who is going to buy their products?
BINGO
For Amazon specifically, half of my orders, get delayed. Doesn't matter if it's coming from across town or six states away. Prime 2 day shipping, not happening.

Had a buddy that worked at the distribution warehouse in Baton Rouge as a supervisor not long ago. The stories I heard, everyone of those MFs need to be replaced. You can imagine the workforce that was "employed". Go on a break to never show back up to work. Late every morning. Come to work smelling straight weed. The expected throughput compared to the actual throughput was about 10%. So yea a lot of those idiots can not even do a mundane job like putting boxes on a fricking truck.

Amazon has received huge tax breaks and other incentives from communities all over the country as they’ve built huge distribution warehouses and hired thousands of workers.
In a few years those warehouses will be largely devoid of local workers.
Only an idiot would sign a contract on the government side allowing workers to be replaced like that... So they probably did.

I’m so glad because all those bullshite human things get in the way of shareholder profits.

Amazon would never sign a deal that prevented them from replacing their workers.

Drivers load their own boxes and zip up totes into their vehicles at Amazon distribution warehouses.

Amazon’s U.S. work force has more than tripled since 2018 to almost 1.2 million. But Amazon’s automation team expects the company can avoid hiring more than 160,000 people in the United States it would otherwise need by 2027. That would save about 30 cents (to put in the pockets of a few people at the very top)on each item that Amazon picks, packs and delivers to customers.
That’s not the way it works at all. Competition drives prices down to healthy margins. That 30 cents might briefly go to the shareholders (like you and me), but eventually it will go to the consumers (like you and me).

Ok maybe I misworded. They had a quota to load 9 carts or something like that. Sorry didn't work there, only heard the story and I can't remember it all.

It's their time off they can use whenever, as in 0 approval required. Apparently Amazon knows the job sucks and gives 5 minutes of this time off per hour worked. My buddy's gf works there, so I've heard her mention being low on upt, so i had to ask myself. Then there's the vto, voluntary time off, when they're overstaffed for the volume of work they have. They really incentivize not working is the gist i get
