Does ebay guarantee the sale or product after it is received?
Amazon recently gave me a full refund on a laptop 10 months after the purchase(from a amazon third party) because it didnt have a a full one year warranty(there was only about 9 months left on it from date of purchase)

Yes. You don't use Amazon prime, I get that. I do, and I love it.
and my point was amazon 'punishes' those who dont have prime by delaying the free shipping.

Also I find my non-prime shipments come in pretty fast
Yeah, I've never had a big issue with the non-prime shipments either. And they are usually pretty spot-on with their estimated delivery date.

and ordered everything for Christmas through them.
The best way to Christmas shop. Sitting at a bar using the Amazon app.

I don't care where she sits when ordering all the presents.

I've always wondered why Cad hates amazon, is it because most people love it? Walmart share holder? What?

I continue to shop at Amazon because they cause you so much agony.

And that makes Amazon more of a buyers market than a sellers market. IMO you should have bought a square trade warranty.

1. depends on the seller. you do have to do your homework.
2. i use AMEX for all purchases so i'm covered no matter what. AMEX never asks questions.
3. y'all hate hearing the truth

I guess if you don't use Prime and live in a state that's taxed on Amazon then you might have a few points.
But, I don't live in such a state and I use Prime, so Amazon wins easily as a buyer.

I've never been charged sales tax.

2. amazon shipping (unless prime) takes longer than a week in 99% of the cases because they SIT on your order if you select free shipping
Isn't free shipping 5 day shipping through Amazon? So you are complaining about it taking as long as it was quoted? It doesn't even make sense to complain about this because it is typical for most ebay sellers to overcharge on shipping and handling. This is how they make their products seem cheaper.

I don't get Cad's hate for them, and I like Cad a lot as a poster, just his Amazon hatred is so odd.

I wonder why he continues to use it despite having nothing good to say about Amazon.
I don't shop at Wal-Mart because it sucks. it would be hypocritical to hate their service and management yet still give them business every week.

I use amex almost exclusively for work and home, this is not always true(more than you think)

You have never truly appreciated shopping till you have these 2 combined.

So I should pay extra for an additional warranty instead of using the warranty I received when I purchased the product?

Also you can tell if they "sit" on an order, look at the time difference between creation of the shipping label and acceptance at the local Post office or UPS/FedEx.
Though I just had a guy mad at me because the PObox cover he bought from me last Wednesday just came in yesterday. I tried to explain Christmas to him, then he got snippy that it wasn't the same cover (I only had one, I know it's the same, lol) he left positive feedback, as did I.
The heyday of selling online was 99-05 now people expect too much (like the OP) and it's hard for the average joe to make money selling online.

when is the last time you used ebay? 2004?
nobody i buy from on ebay charges for shipping and more often than not i can 'make an offer' and get the item for even less than the already cheap price.

quote:well you said it was out of warranty, so I was saying to get the extended warranty. Rather than make a third party seller eat the shipping, listing and product costs.
So I should pay extra for an additional warranty instead of using the warranty I received when I purchased the product?
If it was in warranty you should have handled it through the warranty and not through Amazon. I get it sounds odd, but now that I know how Amazon selling works, doing what you did really messes sellers up. It's not like he was negligent, he sold you product, it failed and was covered under warranty. Now he is out for the item, the listing, the fees and the shipping, because you went through Amazon and not the warranty.
