And talking about Amazon without prime... sort of like sizing up the US Navy but ignoring the aircraft carriers? Prime is a huge part of what makes Amazon great.

as far as the best deals on pole saws and saws, go to Lowe's and look out front at their damaged items. They don't pay third party warranty techs much, so if the repair is just a tad bit difficult they tech will write "bad motor" on the item. Generally the motor is never bad.
I have two almost new $40 lawnmowers and a $50 Stihl chainsaw.
I try and stop by the one on Elysian fields once a week to look for deals.

Just buy several items you would ordinarily buy. Deodorant,shampoo,toilet paper, etc. It may take 1 month to recoup your prime membership fee if you do it that way.

So how am I losing if I'm buying items from them(at a cheaper cost than another retailer), I get the item in less than 2 days, I get to stream a bunch of free movies/shows, I get free books for my Kindle each month, I get access to free music, other members of my family can enjoy the same benefits, and I know I have access to great customer service?? And I paid $100 a year for this?

IDK, I like the Prime streaming service on my Fire TV, I also like the Kindle stuff.
Most people who use Amazon buy more than 20 things in a year, and that covers shipping. We both know there is no such thing as "free" shipping, you are paying for it one way or the other.
I used to do a lot of local pick ups on Ebay when it was smaller, back before there was Paypal and you had to send money orders or use Billpay for everything.

i buy/sell on both and honestly it's basically of 50-50
amazon, i don't deal with as many idiots as ebay, but ebay's selling layout is better IMHO

eta interesting WORX and other manufacturers have stores in EBAY but not AMAZON. i wonder what the economics are there for opting one route vs the other.

eBay sucks for 1000s of reasons, but the top one is PaysuckPal, followed closely by non-existent customer service.

like i said earlier, you do have to do your homework and buy from a reputable seller.
i've really never had a problem with anyone on ebay i've bought from but i dont buy from someone with a 15 feedback score.
eta just got an update from WORX ebay store from the tool i bought last night...its already on the truck via fedex from charlotte, NC eta saturday.
i'd never get that quick shipping without the amazon prime surcharge. now i can cut down some trees before i go back to work monday.

Gos I hate Paypal and when you have issues I hate how Ebay plays up this "seperate company" BS when they are one in the same. Ebay has owned Paypal for over a decade.
Man I hate Paypal. I wish I could just accept direct payments like back in the day.

being that you live not far from Memphis you will always get Fedex shipments pretty quickly.

I've had a lot of problems with purchases I've made on Ebay. With Amazon I've had no problem getting refunded when I wasn't happy with a purchase. Not so with Ebay.
