Since when does Amazon decide to charge $8 for UPS to pickup an item for refund, when it was their fault to begin with?

Ordered a little $6 part, which the picture and description said X. Received Y in the mail, went to request a refund and the choices were either bring it to UPS myself or pay $8 for UPS to pick it up.

How about instead, Amazon fixes their shite to send the right item to begin with.

I just like that a lot of the time you can bring it as is and UPS will package and ship it

I'm assuming these were all automated choices? There's a roundabout way to chat with an actual representative and 9/10 times they'll tell you to just keep it and they'll refund you.

they sent me a new bag of dog food after I called saying usps said it was lost and wouldn’t be delivered. Less than an hour after I got off the phone with Amazon it was delivered. Now I have 2 bags of dog food.

Sorry for your loss.

Time isn't either.

Surprised to hear they are doing this now. In the recent past, when I got the wrong item, they just told me to keep it and they refunded me.

Walmart does this too, for online orders. I don't remember what exactly was wrong or why we wanted to return it, but a ps2/game/controller ended up being free years ago.

You can return it to Kohls and they will actually give you $5 Kohls cash when you return Sat-Mon, and a 25% off coupon when returning Tue-Fri.

They didn't use to. It would suck if they started doing that. Just another reason to check everything you buy to see if it can be purchased direct from the manufacturer/company. Lately I've gotten better prices and better shipping times, even without Prime.

I get the point you are making. But what would happen if you bought something from a brick a mortar store, opened the box, and the wrong item was in there. It's not like the store would drive out to your home to replace the item with the correct one even if it was wrong through no fault of your own. There are so many free options of returning with them. At least near me. UPS stores, Amazon Drop Boxes, etc..

i agree. I seriously doubt a UPS store or drop box place is out of your way on your daily commute. You talking about maybe 5 minutes of your life. If those 5 minutes are worth $8, then by all means, pay the $8.
DO you never go to the grocry store? there's an amazon return location at Whole Foods in Baton Rouge. You don't even need to grocery shop, you just go there for lunch. and i'm sure there's plenty other places like that for you to take advantage of.

To be honest UPS has always charged to make a pick up. My guess is UPS is now passing that along to Amazon, and they are passing along to you. Best practice is to print the return label, and ship it out from your office if you have daily pick up. It will cost nothing to your employer.
