Watched the movie Sydney White with my daughter - even she made unsolicited comments about how pretty Amanda Bynes was onscreen. Played the sweet tomboyish girl next door who went to college and got hot, befriended the nerds, and took down the mean girls. You know the recipe.

She has serious underlying issues, which often materialize around 18-22 years old. And yes, definitely exacerbated by abuse of some sort. She's had several inpatient psych visits for psychiatric breaks.
She goes through spells of complete disconnection from reality.
