An ear infection.

I don't think they can legally lock you in a room.

We’re finally home. Apparently the locking was done without the doctor’s knowledge by a nurse who was freaking out. The same nurse I heard yelling and cussing about it in the hall. That nurse will have to fight to keep her job.

Now that this is over, I’ll say I totally get the need to follow protocol. What’s ridiculous is that even though I met zero of the risk factors on the sign on their door, they had to wait 3 hours for a phone call from the state health department to get the all clear when we al knew that it was ok and I wasn’t infected or a risk. The protocols surrounding this virus are inefficient and horribly wrong. Typical in a government run operation.

Should have pegged that nurse with the dirty diaper on your way out.

The reason people are freaking out is because they cant handle that many people in the ICU at once.

Yep. It's simple yet we still have people acting like this is some left wing media conspiracy. I knew we were mostly retards but it's still disturbing to see it.

You keep saying that you are fine, that you didn't meet any of the risk factors, that you were out of the 14 days window since contact with an infected, etc. You were at the doctor for your son, who was displaying symptoms, who was still within the exposure window (which would be 28 days for the both of you counting from when you last had contact with an infected), etc. Just saying it's not totally crazy they were concerned. Of course, they could have handled it better.

Yeah, this is exactly why they say dont just waltz in to the doctor's office if you're sick and corona is a possibility.

You are supposed to call the doctor beforehand & explain the situation. OP did not do that, and apparently most of the people on this board think that you should be able to remain an ignorant frickwit and not be mildly inconvenienced.

OP should have either called ahead, if he though COVID was a legitimate concern, or kept his mouth shut if he didnt.

He had to sit in a room for a few hrs, ONOZ!

That is pretty mild inconvenience if you take half a second to consider that from the doctors’/staff’s point of view this fricking idiot just potentially exposed all of them and all of their other patients to the COVID virus.

So, which is worse 1 willful retard sitting in a room for a couple of hours or 20-30 people under mandatory quarantine for 2 wks?

Completely ridiculous.

I hope you're son feels better soon. I'd just take him home and watch him closely.

You know the doctor and staff knew the risks of their profession when starting school you fricking tool. And a doctors office is the one place that, you know, you go to when sick right?

Their isn't any reason you can say that justifies a doctor or nurse locking an individual and their six month old in a room without consent. Absolutely none.

This is nonsense, I love it!

I mean the scenario described in this fricking thread seems like a good place to start. An individual that is clearly ignorant of current CDC recommendations brings his sick kid into Dr's office and casually mentions COVID exposure.

Did the office handle it perfectly? Doubtful but this is a very fluid, stressful situation for healthcare providers, and isolating an individual that is reasonably believed to be a threat to the health/safety of the public, and then elevating for advice seems like a pretty decent response.

The bottom line is that OP is ultimately to blame for this whole shite show. He should man-up, own his mistake, and learn from it. Instead, the little snowflake instantly melts and runs to the internet to post a story that likely didnt happen in the first place.

The doctor's office had a message up and signs all over the building with the following:

If you have traveled overseas in the last 14 days or have been exposed to anyone who is suspected to have the virus within the last 14 days or are feeling symptoms, please notify us.

I met zero of those stipulation and even called my physician that morning to make sure I didn't need to get tested.

So yeah, I did follow the protocols. But keep spouting off like a fricking idiot thinking you know more than anyone else.

No you didn’t.

If you thought COVID was a legitimate possibility, you should’ve called your son’s dr & let them know that before going in to their office. If you didn’t think it was a legitimate concern, you should not mention COVID after just walking in. I agree, based on the info you provided, the probability that your kid had COVID due to your minimal exposure 3 weeks ago is zero. So, you should’ve kept your maw closed. Or keep ending up in regrettable situations due to your own actions, you do you.

I’m sure the clinic reviewed their actions in your case to capture some lessons learned, you should do the same.
