if you were black and the president, they'd call what you did "socialist" behavior...

but frick the haters.... what you did is good... the world could use more like you and your unselfish ways... sure you earned that $247, where as she didn't... but sometimes others need more than yourself.... i'm sure you ain't hurting over that $247, whereas she, if she didn't get some assistance, may have down the road... more importantly than the money, you gave her hope, assurance, and understanding, and that my boy, is worth a whole hell of a lot more than that $247...

The fact she was buying reduced groceries (not junk garbage) and drove an early 90s Chevy would lead me to beleive she was legit struggling too.

Well done

To those ridiculing you, I hope they are never in a like, penniless situation. Karma will bite them on the arse.

To you, thumbs up.

Even if you were conned as some said, so be it. You did what you felt was right and probably helped someone in need.

Like my buddy told me once, for those who don't believe, they got nothing to lose if they're right. But if they are wrong.............

Thanks for helping another member of the human race.

I've given two people money like that before off a gut instinct. One of them tracked me down months later and said I saved his arse and repaid me. I never heard back from the other one.

I've lived in Atlanta (Marietta/Roswell). People from Louisiana that meet in places out of state instantly have a connection no matter what color/race because of the culture, food, sports, etc. I've never seen anything like it. Talking to someone that's from La gives people a sense of being 'home' when 550 miles away.

I guarantee if she was from Cincinnati you would not have done that.

We had a bad tornado come through here a few days ago and I felt like I had to try to help in some way and have been doing whatever I can be it cleanup or lending a hand in any way possible.

I know what you mean. Just felt moved to do whatever for who ever.

well this story has been told by others so Im not telling tales.
Few years back a poster on here was going through a particularly rough patch .
One day I was just struck to send them a check and in my head the amount just came to me,, so I got their address and sent it.

NOW heres the best part
it was 7th Ward and in the memo line I wrote
quote:

reparations

he called me while in line at the bank laughing his arse off

Love that dude

as I get a little older, I find myself being a little more sympathetic from time to time as well. I find that my first impression about people usually turns out to be correct more often than not. It sounds like your intuition told you that she was legitimately in a tough situation and you helped out. I think you would be safe in saying that you probably did something that will stick with her and her children for the rest of their lives. that kind of thing can redirect the course of a child's life as far as I am concerned, so hats off to you.

Cynicism is the OT. You did a wonderful, heartfelt thing whether you were conned or not (I don't believe that you were). These are the things that receive blessings, and I really don't care what the non-believers think.

I concur with High C. No matter what she does with the money, you earned some serious points with big guns upstairs. You did the right thing.

I think you did good. When and if I ever give money to strangers who may or may not need it it really doesn't matter to me if they're conning me or not I feel good about what I did and it makes me feel good about myself

The money was great, but she needed more than that. Nice of you to listen to her story. Someone put y'all together in that line, and it sounds like it was good for you too. Some people on here will say you are stroking the old ego, maybe others will follow your lead. Great story. Hope she gets the break she needs.
