95% of men and probably 60% of females agree with you.

IMO if you’re dating a girl that is obsessed with valentines days and what she’s going to get, it’s a bad sign for the future of that relationship and how difficult it would be to sustain a more serious relationship.

No. I married a girl that thinks it's dumb and pointless as well, so no worries in my life this week.

I'll get her a card or something, but that's about it.

December: "Christmas is awesome! Favorite time of the year!"

February: "Valentine's Day is a made up corporate holiday to sell candy and flowers!"

Nope, just an a-hole for starting this thread about it.

You got the wrong guy, buddy. I feel the same about the obscene mass-consumption part of Christmas as well.

You must be pretty damn important with your busy schedule that you can't find time to buy a card or a bottle of wine or something for Friday. That would take 10 minutes of your precious time.

I don't need an excuse or "holiday" to do something nice for my wife, but I'm not going to ignore a special day that can take very little effort to do something for her.

It’s not a big deal for some. My wife and I never found it to be a big deal either (even when we first started dating). Would just get a pizza and watch a movie on Valentine’s Day. I’ll get her flowers randomly once or twice a year and that seems to mean a lot more than on the day they’re dramatically marked up.

If it matters to the girlfriend it should matter to you.

It mostly is. It’s okay for dating or newer relationships but it stupid for people that don’t need fake occasions to express their feelings.

No. My wife and I feel the same way. It's a made up holiday to sell cards, flowers and chocolates. Have sex whenever you want to have sex. Why do you need a day dedicated to giving your SO shite he or she doesn't want or need just to try to frick him or her. Just go and frick.

You don't need to go all out and litter the walkway with rose petals and shite. It's a good excuse to have a solid date night or cook something special at home.

I had some fights in the beginning of our relationship, but we no longer celebrate valentines.

The last straw for me is when I had to put a deposit down for a reservation in Nola. I said we can celebrate it another day, but I’m not risking a dime for a reservation.
