Depends...did you go buy a new truck with the money you owe?

Happened to me after doing some hurricane work at a steep discount for some people. They refused to pay but then posted about a nice new truck they bought

There’s just no way some of you are gainfully employed

I find myself in a pickle. I agree with the statement ... But mingo said it.

Step one: frick you mingo

Step two: the amount of posters that believe the OP can simply write a check for "Thirtyish thousand dollars" "payable to Pablo... (Because he was who did the work, surely you would pay him)"

...I worry for some of you spinning those valves in the plants.

I guess I'm a bad person. If a company doesn't send an invoice within 4 months of work complete, I will absolute stiff you per our Ts and Cs at current company.

That won’t save you in a lawsuit. You can’t legalize theft in your contract.

It’s abundantly clear some of you have never worked in any semblance of a business

Yes. You could be one of the reasons they go out of business.

Looking over some business stuff this morning while the wife and baby are sleeping, it's been close to a year now and I still haven't received invoices for $30k worth of work I know I owe. How long do you ride before reaching out?

So much money lost every year due to bad clerical work.

Yeah you're a complete POS.

For me it depends on how good they are. For instance I use a contractor who is poor at billing but does great work. So I let him know. Had an AC contractor who didn’t bill me, Man frick them because every time before they were ridiculous.

I wouldn’t pay without an invoice but if I knew someone owes me an invoice, I’d ask for one.

If they want to be paid, they can send an invoice

That would have nothing to do with them checking their payables and actually sending out invoices

I’ve been in finance all my life.

Don’t pay them until they send an invoice.

That is sloppy and they should be punished for not sending the invoice.

Timely filing clauses in contracts clearly define exactly when, what, how, and where invoices are to be submitted. Payments are declined all the time when a party is negligent in this regard. Very big in insurance vs mismanaged medical offices.

How are you supposed to pay if you don’t have an invoice? Why would you go out of your way to do so

But according to Mingo, there was no reasonable way he could possibly pay that bill!!!

He repeatedly asked, how is he supposed to pay the bill?..

my old man had $15k on a credit card when he died. I called them to pay the bill, but they wouldn’t talk to us because he was the sole account owner. Told me we had to settle it all through his estate and would talk no further.

I LOL’d, hung up, and moved on with my life—I tried to do the right thing, but frick em, I’m not working for a creditor here. In Iowa, a surviving spouse isn’t liable for individual CC debt if not on the account and all his assets were transferred via beneficiary designation and joint rights of survivorship, so there will be no estate.
