Article in NOLA.COM today about a bill just passed that mandates increased training for police officers in LA. The article states that police must now have mandatory training for "interaction with mentally ill or developmentally disabled persons." But then the article states that the bill was prompted by the Alton Sterling shooting:

quote:

It was prompted in part by the death of Sterling, fatally shot July 5 during a struggle with two Baton Rouge police officers who were trying to arrest the emotionally disturbed man outside a convenience store.

Has there been even one statement by anyone (including the family) that Alton was "emotionally disturbed" because I haven't heard it?

Term which could be defined in many ways. News media people are trained to use words that are difficult to tie a concrete definition to in order to avoid any liability for it later on.

I call it avoiding accountability.

I think they are saying the bullet disturbed his ability to have any more emotions.

He had a gun pointed at him. At that point, he was totally unaccountable for his actions...

He was a 6'3" 300+# felon with a gun, resisting the police. At that point the police were totally justified in their actions...

It's an absolute disgrace that Saint Alton had to die the way he died. Suicide by cop. But those CDs. What about all those CDs?

Good night and good bye Sweet Prince.

I don't think you know how the media works. The truth isn't as important as adding details that will attract more viewers.

While the internet and social media has allowed us to get news faster, it also hurt the integrity of reporting. Everyone wants to be first and have information that other news outlets do not have.. So what do they do when there is no more information to gather, that no one else has? Make up shite.

Man is that a real NY Daily News cover? Talk about misrepresentation of the actual events.
